Title: 1/30/08 Marquette Area
Post by: browning13 on Jan 30, 2008, 06:13 PM
I fished near Marquette today with a friend. We went 3-7 on tips-ups but the wind was tripping a lot of them. The warm weather earlier this week helped the ice. It melted down some of the snow and then froze solid. We were on a small lake with 12" of ice and maybe 1-2" of light snow, much easier walking than last weekend. It was  F$*%&# COLD out though. We ended up driving out the truck and watching the tipups from inside for the last hour or so.

Went out last night in the area - a few dink perch and a 12" crappie.  They all went back down the hole for next time.  Tried the corn pasta trick in the trout section.  Can't say if it worked or not though.  Would have been nice to have a camera down the hole to see if any fish were moving in.  Hopefully I'll be back on the ice Saturday - tonight skiing.
