I'll usually check mine shortly after setting them. If they are clear of weeds, I'll check them once an hour or so.

Half hour to an hour, pick them up, look at them, and set them back in. Sometimes it helps trigger a strike.

Once an hour, used to have do it more often before I started using foam hole covers and polar style tip ups to clear ice out of the holes, not any more !

Every 5 minutes...that's how long it takes to pull off whatever it is attached to the bait... ;D

30 minutes to an hour depends on the weather and how the jigging is going! Skim ice and check minnows. I agree with the guys sometimes it helps trigger a strike.

Every two hours if I am located in a good fishing spot.  Every hour If I'm in a new spot and move one to a new hole if the fish are not biting.

the first hour I leave them alone, I usually check the hole with my camera or flasher, and give the bait a few pumps when i first drop it, so i know if there are any weeds to hinder action.

then let it sit.. after the first hour, i check to see it the bait is still lively, and give it another 30minutes.. or move it

I'll usually check mine shortly after setting them.

That's a good tip.  No use letting them sit in a pile of weeds for an hour!

I agree with Stoutbait, check every half hour or so, depending on how the jigging is going.
Heck, sometimes the jigging pulls in more and larger fish!

Probably every half hour, if my flag isn't popping up there is a problem, I either need to raise or lower the bait, or move

Usually once an hour while fishing for trout. Every half hour for everything else.

If I am not getting hits or fish, I move my tip ups with in 45 min. to a new hole. If the hole has been producing and it is quite for a little while I try to check every half hour...

Unless I miss a flag I don't ever bother the pull them all the way out.  I do go around every 20 to 30 minutes and give them a shake to get them struggling again though.

Every couple hours. Flutter the minnow up and down for a sec. It has seemed to trigger a strike for me before.
