Be sure to check your regulations closely.  Many lakes in Quebec are closed to ice fishing.  The Ottawa River offers up some good ice fishing but be sure to go out with someone else who knows the ice conditions and where the current areas are that don't freeze well.

certain species are closed to protect to stocks from being over fished.

mostly trout.  because they are quite easy to catch in the winter, especially lakers!!

that's why Quebec has a pretty good trout fishery ;)

I usually fish the ottawa river between carillon and lake of 2 mountains( allowed 10 rods each in that area).  The bays are frozen up nice and solid but the river itself, where the big'uns are is still sketchy.  Lots of easy access Montebello, buckingham, grenville/hawkesbury, carillon, st-andre-est, st placide.

Hey guys!!
We're setup in a shack in the 'riviere des outaouais' (Ottawa River) somewhere in front of Constance Bay (except on the Quebec side of course). At least 10 inches of ice right now. We only caught two burbot (lotte, "barbotte") up to now ... >:(  ??? hopefully we can hook a few eyes tonight...  ;D

Anybody else fishing in that area?
