For the ceiling I cut used 2x4's in three, ending up with 3/8 boards. I gave them a quick sanding and nailed them up, a lot of work but I think it was worth it.

Mixed some random paint together and this is what the color turned out to be.

Thank you for all the photographs old truck guy .Nice looking shanty looking forward to more photos as your build progresses .
Steve

i bet when finished and loaded with gear its gonna be plenty heavy
-
I recently weighed the ice shack and it weighed out at 2900lbs,. The stub axles that I installed are rated combined at 4000lbs. I'm at the stage of plumbing the propane to the stove and furnace and finishing the lower cabinets.
-
More pics please!!! You know how we love our shack porn on here!!! :icefish:
-
Nice shack, looks good so far, would like to see close up shot of how you built those drop axles.
-
Sounds like you might be interested in Wheel House axel designs. This is what I did on my 6.5 x 12. I used a hub assembly as it allowed adjustment for camber and toe-in. Hubs are mounted with 4 bolts so I can add shims. Also gave me increased clearance with the hub extended downward. The tires you see in the pic's are setting on 2x4's to the frame that allowed me to move the frame during build to cut the grass.

I did a 2 pulley system on the wench to ease the up/down movement with the wench

I installed a volt meter to monitor the battery level and the switch to the right operates the ceiling fans, there is also a fan in the roof vent which will exhaust out as well.

Just about done the lower cabinets, but will have some changes yet. I have so many ideas but they change as I go.
-
Can you explain what you are doing as far as power goes. Batteries?
-
I'm planning on using two deep cycle batteries and it will be charged by the solar panel and also I have seven pin bargeman cord that can be plugged into the truck if necessary. All the lights are LED, I'm going to be running an inverter to power the TV and DVD player, not sure if that is going to work yet. ;D

(https://s21.postimg.cc/l3wza4dmf/WP_20161029_012.jpg?5) Here is my axle system still needs a little work yet
(https://s14.postimg.cc/nwm8seb2p/WP_20161029_008.jpg) Rod holders are up, going to install the hole covers tomorrow
-
The interior is finished for this year, I just have a bit of welding on the jack mounts and the where the cable is hooked on the axle instead of it being attached to the spring ;D ;D ;D

Great build!

Wow! Looks great
-
Are those battery powered lights or do you have them wired in? I am looking for some battery powered for mine , preferably LED.
Great looking shack, looks very well thought out
-
They are just RV lights wired in and I installed LED bulbs. I bought the bulbs from eBay. I'm impressed with your shack as well. I like your wood stove, nice emblem on the door 👍👍👍. I'm already thinking of going wood heat for next year.

-30C and no snow on the lake from the recent storm. A buddy and I went and drilled some holes on our local lake and found 9" to 10" of ice. Probably head out fishing tomorrow with the portable shack. We're going to give the lake a few more days to harden up to take the new build out for the maiden voyage, LOL. ::) ;D ;D
-
Nice work man! Enjoy it. You worked hard on it. Tight lines
-
What a trip enjoy

We have approx. 20 inches of ice on the lake. I moved it today with the foot of snow we just received recently, it pulled great. Gotta like the Toyo tires on the truck as well ;D Also the fishing has been good too.
-
I gotta get me one of those
-
Awesome man looks great
-
Thank you for posting a photo of your shanty out on the ice. Glad to hear there was no trouble moving it once on the ice. May this shanty serve you well for many ice fishing seasons.

Starting working on the shack again, I got the counter top finished. I had some ceramic tile left over from a job that I had done at home. I glued it down then used exterior mono for the grout.

I added the hammock for the lazy days. ;D ;D ;D

Nice addition just be careful getting out of the hammock when you notice one of your rod tips bobbing or bent from a fish on the line.

You did a wonderful job. I miss driving on the ice, opening up the shanty door, turning on the heat and start fishing!

[imghttp://(https://s18.postimg.cc/ijn3lqvk9/IMG_1577.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/dxqzdea11/)][/img] Well! here is Year 2 for the shack. Brought the shack out last weekend and so far everything is good. Fishing has been good but little concerned about the temps we been having but the forecast is looking better. Looking forward to the Christmas break with my kids, since they'll be home for a few days.
-
Nice looking diggs you have there. I don't think the cold will effect your fishing once inside. I miss driving on the ice, now, here in Western New York, we are fortunate to even have ice. Looks good here so far for ice making though. Perhaps we will have safe ice for sure this season. Go get em!
-
Nice photo , Have fun during Christmas holiday with the kids.
