Way More Betta Jet Sled!
« on: Feb 08, 2023, 06:34 PM »

After seeing a few different ideas over the years, it was time to build my own.

1.5” PVC for strength and rigidity. Not too tall to worry about tipping. Eye loops for bungies. Bolted down on all four corners through the caps. No PVC glue so I can pop it apart for storage, definitely not because I arbitrarily came up with a height before I thought about it fitting under the tonneau cover on the truck.

It desperately needs some paint. Maybe I can get it done before her maiden voyage early Saturday morning. Might even bolt a toilet seat to it.

Good luck this weekend homies!

Looks nice! It's always nice to get awkwardly-shaped things like an auger out of the sled.

Nice job, looks very useful.
Maybe someday I'll think of something clever to write here...but I doubt it.

i did almost the exact same thing to my sml Otter sled. was able to get away with smaller PVC since I just wanted raise the sides a little. Not to pile on top of the rails.

I like it!  Been thinking about expanding the smaller of my two sleds by using elbows.  I need to set the little sled up so I can transport the auger around the ice.  Really like the idea of the Sled Dog too!

Great idea - may consider expanding my smaller Jet-Sled.

The "plans" I drew up are still on my work bench, but they're also pretty much hieroglyphics and utter nonsense to anyone but me. I'll share if you want to take a look. The only way to go for me was up, I thought about doing outrigger style but I was afraid it would be too tippy with the weight outside the sled. So I just went up about 8 inches to clear a bait bucket.

No need - I can figure it out from the picture you posted if I decide to move forward with it.  My jet sled is old so this may be something I do on a new one if/when I invest in one.  Thanks for the pic and idea
