Is there just trout in that lake? my daughter attends UMPI and I would like to take her out fishing somewhere close.

Squa pan is fairly close and more species with some huge smelts too.

Sorry if my post is a little OT but this thread brings back memories. I attended UMPI in the late 70's and met my wife there. I fished ABP a few times, through the ice and in a boat. My recollection is that we caught pickerel, maybe white perch. I think we caught trout in Hanson Lake, over behind the airport and I know Squa Pan was good as mentioned by Rusty Crab. Mostly I duck hunted ABP, on the North shore about halfway up the lake in that floating marsh area. One time I'm sitting with a rig of decoys and it's deer season. I can hear nimrods with walkie-talkies squelching the deer out of The County. Then this 6-point runs out of the bushes, right into the lake in my rig. I have no slugs onboard so he's safe from me. There's skim ice out about 50 feet or so, and he gets hung up trying to go parallel to the shore. Out of the corner of my eye I see one of the knuckleheads pop out of the woods. I stand up so he can see me, he looks right at me then sees the deer not 25 yards from me and he's close to 100 off to the side. Yep, BLAM! Whacks the deer right in my rig.  ::) He's yelling at the top of his lungs, "I got him"..no walkie-talkie for that. Walks up, no how ya doin' or sorry, just "can you take your boat out and get him?". Googan. The deer is still thrashing around, so I let him borrow the boat, which is an 8 foot dingy. I'm looking forward to a show and I get one.  LOL  His buddy comes out to help and manages to step off the marsh into the pond so he's wading around up to his chest. What a carnival, lots of laughs back then.
