LX 5 transducer
« on: Jan 22, 2014, 05:50 PM »
So I have a marcum lx-5. The unit is 5 years old. The battery finally pooped out on me. No big deal I got a replacement for it. When I was pulling the unit out of the soft case I noticed that where the transducer screws into the unit didn't look right. When I took a closer look the wire cover where it meets the plug is seperated and you can see the small wires exposed. I pushed it back up there and electric tapped it. The unit is working fine, but kinda worried down the road. If I send it to marcum can it be fixed or am I better off to get a new one? I just don't want it too crap out on me when I'm on a trip I have a few more planned this season. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'd get a new one; fix the old one with some sealing shrink tube or liquid tape and pack it in your vehicle as a backup.
