2014 Midwest Open

Brooklyn, MI
Entry Fee for 2014 is $150.00 per 2 man team

Due to the extreme demand for entry into the 2012 Midwest Open Ice Fishing Tournament, we are making changes on how we take entries for the 2014 Midwest Open. We understand that these changes are going to change the look of the Midwest Open. We also understand there is no possible way to make everyone happy, but we hope the new entry format will be a more equitable solution for all those who want to enter the 2014 Midwest Open.

With the growth of the Midwest Open over the last 4 years we have had a lot of requests to either hold another event or expand the current event. We know if we were to do a second event we would have 2 watered down events instead of one nationally Recognized event. It is our intent to continue to grow this event and make it the best Ice Fishing Tournament in the Nation.

With that in mind, for the first time the Midwest Open is going to give 5 spots for the 2014 Midwest open to the top 5 teams from the 2013 Michigan Open, being held on Hamlin Lake near Ludington Michigan on February 3, 2013. This event is going to be patterned after the Midwest Open and will have a field of 100 teams.

If this goes well we will be open to the idea of giving similar recognition to Team Tournaments in other states that are willing to put on an event of this type. So if you are interested or know of an event similar to ours in other states that would like to be associated with the Midwest Open have them contact Tom Knutson at 1-800-248-9318. It is our goal to see the 17 States and Canada each hold an event to qualify the 5 teams for their respective State. It would be wonderful to see fourteen 100 team events such as ours each season. That would be 2800 fishermen and women enjoying, teaching and learning the great winter pastime of Ice Fishing.

As we go forward with the Midwest Open it is our goal to continue to put on a world class ice fishing tournament, with ice fishermen from all over North America fishing for the top prizes in Ice Fishing and a chance to call themselves Midwest Open Champion's.

9 Spots plus 20 reserves
Any remaining spots will be drawn from all remaining entries. We will maintain a list of 20 reserves to fill any vacancies that may occur during the year.

Rules of Entry for none qualified teams
Unlike in the past you will be required to state your partner at the time of filling out your entry form. Failure to do so will automatically disqualify your entry. Also you will be able to change your partner once. You will have till the Tuesday prior to the tournament to make your one change. Any change after the Tuesday prior to the event will forfeit your entry into the Midwest Open. You will get a full refund of all entry fees if this happens. Making more than one entry will null and void all of your entries into the Midwest Open. This includes trying to enter with a different partner. You may only enter one time with one partner. If you are entering the contest with a partner from a different state, the person who is listed as team member #1 will be the State that is used as the home state for the team. Team Member #1 will be considered as the team captain. You may enter on line at the Midwestopentournament. com website or by calling 1-800-248-9318 for those outside Michigan and at 1-800-292-0857 for those who are inside Michigan.

You will be required when filling out your entry form to enter a valid Credit Card to pay for the entry fee if you are chosen to be a contestant in the 2014 Midwest Open. Your card will not be charged unless your team has been chosen to fish the 2014 Midwest Open. Failure to put a credit card or form of payment on your entry will make your entry null and void.

If it is found that you or your partner has been disqualified from any form of fishing tournament in the past your entry will be revoked. The reason for Disqualification will be based on the intent to defraud the contest not minor rules infractions. Example for being revoked “Hiding Fish with the intent to later enter them in the contest. Examples for not being revoked, missed entry time, too many fish in bucket ect.

The entry process will take place starting February 1, 2013 at 11 am Eastern time. The entry process will conclude at 11:59 pm on February 28th, 2013 Eastern Standard Time.

The entry list for the 2014 Midwest Open will be posted no later than March 15th, 2013 on the Midwest Open website.

We understand this is very different than the way we have taken entries in the past but we feel this is the fairest way to handle the demand that has come with this very exciting event.

Thank you and good luck.
