Biggest Bluegill out of the Pond so far weight wise

Here's the biggest bluegill out of one of my pond so far. Only 10 3/8 but 1 lb. 7 1/2 ounces.




I had a couple of friends over fishing but I finally got out of the taxidermy shop for a while and caught some smaller ones. The fish was too wide for a 5 inch hole and it had to be made bigger to get it up through the ice. LOL

They also got a 1 lb. 5 oz. 10 1/2 inch fish. Lots of perch released up to 13 + but the bluegill fishing was slow.

This is the only picture I have as the one friend took it with his cell phone and I'm having camera issues.

Of course my fish are fed an artificial diet during open water and I hatch them in a separate pond. I manage this pond for male only trophy bluegill and female only yellow perch. I freeze, sell, and ship them to other taxidermists (I have a permit as Fish Hauler and Supplier).

My point is it's not fair to compare this to public waters and that is not my intention. Just saying this is my biggest so far.

I think there's some guy in Georgia that feeds the fish in his ponds with an artificial diet too. His gills look like footballs! I guess because of the warmer climatre they get to grow for a longer period of time. That's still an awesome fish you got there.

Taxidermist.

It was sold to another taxidermist today in PA.

Although I've been dong taxidermy for 29 years the aquaculture thing is getting to be more and more fun. I may get out of fish taxidermy altogether some day.

Here are my ponds not counting my indoor recirculating systems where I bring in fish for the winter.



I ordered another camera today so should get some better pics in the future. You'll never believe what happened to my other one. I was on the computer one night and heard a thud below me (I'm on a loft in my log home.) I went down below to see what the heck fell and couldn't find anything. Later I realized it was probably my camera and it probably ended up in the garbage can!

thats sweet man, such a tank of a bluegill. the bigest one ive ever seen myself was the one my brother caught that was 12 inches!!! he let it go and we didnt use to have a camera back then
