What is everyone's take on the dyed maggots. Do they actually help, or are they a waste?

Fish around here sure seem to prefer the red ones. I've tried the mixed colors but now just buy red and white.

I have used them a few for several seasons and haven't really noticed a difference between red or white :unsure:
