« on: Dec 22, 2004, 08:29 AM »

Here's what I have come across thus far... keep in mind this has been gathered in the last week - so ice conditions are generally likely to have been improved given the cold weather and all  ;D

Thompson - plenty fishable - about 4-6" of ice.
Brandt has about 3" or so
Scotts Slough has 4-5"
Wall Lake 3-4" I've heard not much action thou
Pelican has 5-6" - not sure if you are up for an hour and a half drive though

I think that about does it for the majority of the lakes around the SF area?  I have driven by several local & private ponds & have noticed they look pretty froze... haven't gotten out to check or anything.  River looks like it is starting to freeze good but I would still wait before venturing out on that one :)

You dont want to ice fish around sioux falls unless you just want to drink while sitting on a frozen lake with an ice fishing pole in your hand.  If you want to catch fish go to the glacial lakes region and have yourself a merry little christmas
