for securing the shack down in the yard could you use those screw in dog tie outs and ratchet straps? some trapping suppliers have them also for screw in trap stakes theyre easy to weld up with some rebar a big washer and a nut

big question is,if it can't handle a windstorm how will it handle 65-70 MPH going to the lake???

                                                                                                   HIMO

I wonder if the shack was sitting with the wheels cranked up.  When it is out on the lake it will be sitting down on the ice and would be more stable then i think.  Just got back to ice shanty here since so busy in the summer am very sorry for the damage that the storm did to your shack we all hope you can get it back in shape in time for the ice.  will defiantly make for some stories while your sitting in it fishing this winter.  Good luck on the build/rebuild is cool to see all your pics.

Nice job on getting things all fixed up, can't even tell anything happened.  I like the idea of the bracing to keep things tied together, it can't do anything but prevent problems before you run into them.

Well I am now done with the hectic part of summer that is so bussy for me. I should have updates comeing soon as I get back o work on the shack. I have got windows to caulk and now I have all the insulation I need so I can get that installed. I am also hopefully going to get the camper I have been waiting on getting to demolish and salvage parts off of it. I should have some new pics in the coming days. Thanks for following along.

Well insulating isn't as easy as it looks. And a lot messier than I thought it would be. And the insulation tha I am using for most of it is a self extinguishing board insulation I got it for FREE lol but  I thought that f I could at least use tha close to were the wood stove will be would probably be a good thing.

Well I am going to use the door out of it as well as the cabnet hardware since tv handels lock shut for travel. I might use one of the 12 v lights from it in the bathroom of the shack. I am also salvaging all the windows  out of for feuture shack builds. it as well as another stove/ oven combo. The sink I am thinking about making a portable fish cleaning table with the sink in it. I got the hole think on a barter deal of I can take whatever I want off the camper if I take the whole thing. Oh and I am going to use some of the siding on the back of the shack and maybe build some sort of trailer out of the frame.

good ideas! sounds like fun too. I was wondering what you were going to do for a door, I am still not sure what to do for the door on my aluminum shack. I like the idea of an RV door.

good luck

Well I got all the trim to do the exterior corners as well as a pice of rubber roof for the roof. The camper is now completely gutted on the inside and I can start to remove the windows and siding and get the back of the shack closed up with the siding. The door is getting put back together and the framing for around that is getting built as well. I now just need to buy som evergreen colored paint for the siding and the door. It is finally raining were I live so work on the shack is done for today.  :(

If you are going to junk the camper after you remove everything you want out of it take the scrap metal to a yard.  I took all the aluminum and stuff like the old holding tank and some other random metal from it and got $100 for it and only paid $200 for the camper itself.

What do you think you are gonna do for the interior? Have any drawing yet of the inside layout?

Ya the walls and cealing are going to be done in rustic pine panneling and the floor done in grey carpet in the main part of the shack. then in the bathroom by the kitchen and entry way will be linolium. I will try to find my blueprints and take som pics for yo guys.

Well I can officially say the camper is gone. It is now just a frame that is getting a little tlc and the goes on craigslist and a pile of scrap ready to be turned in for cash. I got a lot out of it that I saved and  and saved money on building the shack.

After I got back from Cabelas today I got a little done on the shack. I silicones the top of all the marker lights, cauked the edges of the door and finished siding the back of the shack. Tomato I plane to make a trip to the scrap yard and the buy some evergreen paint for the back and the door.

Here is the scrap from the camper. 270lbs of tin and 130lbs of alluminum and walked out of the scrap yard with enough money to buy the glue for the rubber roof of the shack. Man that stuff is expensiv.

Here is the back of the shack installed with lights installed and working, caulked and painted with corner trim installed.

Here is the door all painted up and caulked in with the drip edge installed overhead.

here is a bigger pick with the door.
