Title: Island Lake on the Grand Mesa
Post by: Ambystoma on Dec 16, 2007, 07:50 PM
If you don't mind a little slush Island lake is fishing well. There is about 20" of ice and slush in layers. Green Ratfinkees tipped with crawler in 12' of water was the ticket. Mostly stocker bows with the occasional brookie or cutthroat. They stocked some splake a few years back and they should be getting up there in size. The state record splake was caught there in 76. 18lbs 15oz 32" I don't think there will be another any time soon but the lake is capable of growing them.
