Weekend Crappie Quest
« on: Jan 05, 2020, 08:46 PM »
Spent the weekend searching out some new to me crappie waters.  Drove 300+ miles over the 2 days, fished 2 different west slope lakes, got nothing but a couple bluegill and a bass on saturday, then today in the late afternoon found some good brush piles and boom! CRAPPIES!  Put 5 in the bucket released a couple 7s and 8s and lost a few on the way up.   Also got a small pike on a ice fly today.

Its def a spot worth returning too, limit is 10 but i can prob get a limit next time.  :icefish:

Gonna do some Parmesan Panko Baked Crappie.  I wipe the fillets down with melted butter, get as much of the crust to stick as i can and then put extra on top.  Bake low temp (maybe 350) hit it with the brioler real fast at the end to crisp the top.  Good with sauteed veg.

Sounds great!  I’ve wanted to try some baked recipes for a while.  I might try that with some perch.
