I know in the past they closed the gate but apparently the gate is open this year.  Other threads have people saying gate is open.

Is he a month late from first ice or from catching any fish. I think I've seen reports on here that said bite was good and fish were decent size. That's been a few weeks ago I believe. Hopefully we can get constructive report for you Pan fisherman.

I can't really imagine there being a too late for waveland. If you want to catch a bunch of bluegill or keep kids interested I am pretty confident it's a top 5 within 100 mile radius of Indy for public water

Go to the northern most cabin for good access to the ice then walk west across lake to the buoy puts you in a REALLY good spot 6 to 10 feet of water suspended marks are probably crappie bottom marks bluegill. No secret color I have found in years past.

There biting all over the lake try any where u would like u will catch fish. Heres the GPS coordinates to my spot.1234567-890.  ;D. Also I would like to add this is likely the last weekend to fish on good ice on Waveland. When the rain comes on Sunday the lake will be come very sketchy. We had over 10 before the last rain warm up it cut it to three in two days. We were very lucky to get this cold front to save it. There was four inches of ice on Sunday and am sure theres been inches added since then. After Sunday Extreme Caution is going to be needed in the central part of our state. Am in the Lafayette area. Days are growing longer. And it could be for the most part above freezing for a week or more above avg weather predictions. Please everyone be careful after this weekend in central to southern parts of the state. Am ready for half the state to open up. I enjoy having the option to take the boat out or head to the Northeast for some ice. Good luck

Daylight plus rain but below freezing temps at night.   Last ice then?  Had more ice then last season but still too short.  I guess fish depth and agresssive bite will tell.  I hat to see this soon soon could be another cold clipper come in.

We could see some more cold but we don't make much ice in Feb. in the central part of our state and I would rather drive the boat to a spot then drag all gear. I had my fun.
