Walked onto Mission at the boat launch in Lebret on Saturday. Was about half way across the lake and was only in 6 feet of water. Don't know the lake at all so stayed there for the day. 7 inches of solid ice. Got some bites but nothing would hook. Was still a fun day. Nice old man pulled up as we were packing up and gave us pointers about the lake and depths.

Walked out on Pasqua from the provincial boat launch Saturday and there's a good 8" of ice. Ended up with a few but nothing big. Can't wait to start driving on...it's a hard pull with the bit of snow that's on the ice.

Newbie here, started up last year. Mostly went to Regina beach since it was close.

Any tips on where to get on at Pasqua or echo? Looking to try out other lakes.

I know enough not to drive on yet and to check ice when walking out. Thanks in advance.

Pasqua - At the provincial park launch is a popular spot and just West of Lutherland...there's a long launch that you can access the lake.
Echo - Again the provincial launch but be careful around that area the ice can be thin around the point North of it. B-Say-Tah there's access between a couple cabins.

Good Luck!

Walked out on Echo on Sat straight east from the prov boat launch (not north close to the bridge.... it can be thin with current).
There were 6-8 pop ups with some other harty souls also braving the elements. I was out maybe 500 yards, in 12 feet of water and had 11" of ice. No heaves that I could see anywhere. Got out mid morning until about 3 but it was really slow. Did manage a nice 7.9 eye which made it worth the trip. Hope this cold weather continues so we can drive on soon, just about blew a gasket dragging out my gear!

Echo Lake at B-Say-Ta
13” of good ice at all spots.  Fished 5 different spots between 20’ and 35’.  Was out between 10:30am and 3:30 pm.  Slow fishing day.  Two Tullibee and one small walleye.

2-3” of snow on lake, with a few areas with 4-6” drifts… mostly pencil type drifts.  Easy driving in a half ton pulling a 8’ trailer.

Darn cold even with the furnace running all day.

Mission Lake - LOTS of snow cover and quite a few long and deep drifts.  Navigatable with a 4x4 if you are not pulling anything.  You need to keep your speed up and watch for deep drifts.  Heavy drift at the boat launch, but had a broken trail onto the lake.  Need good speed to get clear of the drift

Making your own trail will come with challenges.

We were pulling a trailer (10’ x 6’) and got stuck 3 times in drifts that were long and deep (6-7”).  Lots of shoveling and some help from another truck and we managed to get off the lake.

We found wet spots that had water / slush that were 4-5” deep near a section that had 6 holes drilled.  The weight of the snow on the ice had pushe d a lot of water up from the holes at that spot.

Mission will likely be tough for the rest of the season.

We heard Katepwa had cleared around the boat launch, so we will try there.

Katepwa Lake - boat launch area was clear and easy to get on the ice.

Few dozen shacks / trailers 50 - 75 out from boat launch.  About 30-35’ of water where shacks are.  Fished from 1:30 to 4:00pm… pretty slow, but 6 Tulllibees landed and a few more lost bringing them up.

Beyond 5he shacks it looks like 4-6” of snow with some drifting.  Not many attempted to travel out beyond the line of shacks and trailers.

At least you can get on to fish.  Ice depth about 18”-20”

Has anyone been on Pasqua Lake recently? Specifically the steep launch at Wambach...wondering about snow conditions as I heard it was still fairly heavy snow down there.

Snow is very hard and you are driving on top of banks.
Not hard to get around.

March 1/2022 - Katepwa Lake - 26-28” of ice - hard pack snow/ice off the boat launch area.  Easy to navigate around the area in a 4x4.

Slow fishing day.  9:30am to 3:00 pm.  7 Tulibees spread over the entire time.  Mostly small in size.

March 1/2022 - Mission Lake

Hard access at Labret boat launch.  Several old paths were no longer accessible.  One “trail” the folks were getting on at had deep wheel ruts, but you could get on with a 4x4 and a head of steam.  It was obvious that some vehicles were bottoming out on that trail.  If you could make it on, the snow pack was very hard making getting around less trouble than 10 days ago.

My fish hut trailer has wider wheels than the truck so we did not attempt to make it through the deep ruts as there was high snow/ice ridges on each side of the ruts.

Ended up at Katepwa Lake where there was good access off the boat launch area.

Does the Lebret Boat Launch have a cleared area to park a truck and trailer at it? Thinking of taking the snowmobile out there this week on Mission.

Echo Lake at B-Say-Ta boat launch - some drifting at boat launch, but good trail to get on.  Hard pack snow on lake.  Larger snow drifts can cause problems as you will break through, otherwise easy to get around.  Ice thickness from 28 to 30” depending on snow cover.

Monday was very slow fishing day.  On the ice at 9:30am, lots of fish marking on flasher but no takers.  Landed one perch by 11:00 and that was it for the rest of the day.  Literally nothing marked and we left at 3:00 pm.

We were out on Pasqua Lake on Sunday March 13th. We went by snowmobile. It was okay. The snow was hard packed for the most part. We did encounter some slush while snowmobiling and fishing. We were on the south side of the lake.

Went out from the park launch at Pasqua today. Lots of fun chipping out a 24 of bud light cans, bait containers, tons of tip up line, pike rigs, and food wrappers that were half frozen in the ice. Also liked the dozen twisted teas left at the launch with the knife they used to shot gun them laying in tracks looking for tires.

Stay classy guys.

There was one near shore at Taylor beach. The snow might have impacted this or hidden smaller ones.
