Title: Markum LX 3 fragile ?
Post by: TRT on Mar 12, 2018, 04:00 PM
I love my Markum and not trying to bash by any means. I've owned it now
5-6 seasons and appreciate they covered the first two repairs. Have other
Markum unit owners found they flasher to be fragile or is it just me?
I've sent back twice and now the plastic connector where transducer
connects to screen/motherboard broke. Glad our season is just about over.

You can order this part directly off their website and just swap it out yourself. Save yourself the time and money sending it in....

I have an LX6 and sent my unit in since my transducer stopped transmitting from one hole to the next while hole hopping.  Prompt reply to emails, told me what they were fixing but when I got it back the power port was broken off the back and when I turned it on it said 20ft out of the water and 1.3 ft in any depth of water (I was able to hole the wires on the back.). The ducer was bouncing around in the box and broke the port and was damaged itself.  Hope it comes back fixed this time.  I'm missing my fishing!!  Also not bashing, just frustrated.

I will say, it's everything made not to last... I've gone through two smart phones, in less than five years.  The old cell phone lasted over ten years, not a single issue.  This last smart phone I'm using is barely over a few months and there's a power connection issue.  Supposedly this was a design fix...

not sure if you have the old LX3 or the newer model. I bought the old one used off of craigslist 2-3 years ago. Still works like new and by no means do I baby it, but i try and take decent care of it. It's taken some decent falls and bounced around in the sled pretty good sometimes but it keeps kicking. So far so good, but like anything else. If you don't take care of it, it won't last?
