Access to Waukewan
« on: Dec 28, 2018, 09:30 PM »
Greeting! I am looking to fish Waukewan or Winona this weekend as the big lakes aren't open yet and have never been to either. Is there a place to access Waukewan on the North side of the lake? Fishing for trout primarily but love a tight line with whatever wants to bite.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Ramp across from lumber yard.
Plenty of ice 2 bobhouse at ramp area.
As always use caution on ALL ice.
Ankle deep water but should freeze over tonight.

There is a Mosquito bridge also on Waukewan .It is the bridge separating Winona from Waukewan on what's known as snake river. You can access Waukewan from there but be careful and stay to the edges until you get away from the current. Most people get on at the south east end by  the water department. Two hard sides out there now with four or so pop ups today. I would go out to the deep spot (hint hint)from the boat launch across form the water department while walking was easy and try if it was me. Water temp was 36 today.
There must be a twelve step program for this

I would also offer the spot to get into Winona by the launch has quite a bit of flow, and the ice can be really cketchy to get out to the lake.
