Went out this afternoon with a friend in Meredith Bay to set up and jig for cusk tonight. We got set up and jigging and right around 5:30 out of nowhere had about a foot to almost of foot and a half of water on top of the ice! Bob house floating as well as cusk traps. Water kept coming and going with the wind. Just wanted to let people know in case you have your own cusk traps or shacks out there.
If you venture out tomorrow, be careful. Could be a lot of the same. Bring waiters! LOL about a foot of ice where I was though. Check as you go.

Was there a lot of snow on the ice?
I don’t think so...just driving by it looked like it was mostly blown off with maybe some low drifting. I fish Newfound and that’s how it was there.
Now a water covered skating rink!

Don’t overlook Winnisquam...known for bigger lakers. Find 40 ft of water and you will find lakers.

We went out at 19 Mile Bay past Chase point and over past the graveyard. There was a lot of water over the ice and random large holes here and there. About a foot of ice everywhere we checked. It should all be frozen solid sometime Sunday.

Fished Gilford Beach this am.
12-14" in Saunders bay. All glare ice.

Was in Meredith Bay this afternoon and drilled through 11in of ice for line drops in the house and 17in outside for tips. Looks like plenty of ice! @)

I was on Meredith over the weekend and observed 17-18".
I also found that some @#* drilled a hole right in the middle of the ramp....
So some idiot decided to ruin the only point of access, for what, so they could drive a truck on?? ???

Unbelieveable! But knowing there are idiots and slobs everywhere it doesn’t surprise me. Common sense is a lost virtue these days...

Meredith looked really good over the weekend as well. 16+ everywhere I checked. I don't remember seeing a hole by the ramp but I will say the ramp didn't look the best either. Not sure if it was just because of the water on top or some broken up ice and continuous machines driving over it.

I imagine the rain currently is doing a number on the edges everywhere. But hopefully the cold upcoming will set them up again for the weekend? Haven’t been out there to see i’m Just speculating and hoping as i’m hitting the big lake for a long weekend this weekend.
