New  on the doorstep today. I'll be tweaking gear tonight. I'm getting itchy already.
-
Awesome love new gear
-
New toys! By your post it looks like you got new tipups, what kind?
-
Just some Frabill tip ups nothing fancy. I'm old school... homemade traps when I fished alot in Maine (a piece of strapping with a hinge and line nailed to the side) they worked great. Though I would launch myself into the 20th century with a few new tips...

Much of my hunting gear is old stuff.... nostalgia. Mostly new ice gear, I never saw a new toy for icefishing that I didn't want. :icefish:

New traps are all spooled and rigged and ready for Ice! Enjoy the long weekend all. See you on hardwater soon!.

I went to Runnings in Ct. today. They have a bunch of gear on the floor. Makes you a little itchy. :P

Holy Cow I just came on the Forum to post that exact same thing about the Runnings in Putnam. They have the largest Ice Fishing Department I've ever seen. If you need it they have it. They have about 8 Ice shantys set up on the floor and tons of gear. Picked up some Boot creepers for my new boots old ones didn't fit my new boots.

What? At jr and I were in that Runnibgs and did t see any ice fishing gear. Maybe a different store? It's like half a mile from a walmart. I need to see a graybill dx3000 and dx4000 up close. Any ideas?

I was there on Sunday. 11/11. It was an Ice Fishing Extravaganza. If you need it... they have it. It was the one in Putnam about 1/2 mile from the Walmart Super Center. Not sure when they put it all up but it is the Higbees of Ice Fishing. (Christmas Story Reference there)

I didn't know there was a Runnings in CT. The one I've been to in NY had good stuff, sounds like this one's worth a visit too. Curiously the Runnings in Rome, NY is next to a big Walmart as well, I wonder if their business model is to follow Walmart?

I love it .... it's 6 miles from my house it's a mixture of Cracker Barrel gift shop, Cabela's and Tractor Supply all kind of lumped into one place. The prices are great too I paid $9.79 for Frabill tips on amazon plus shipping . At Runnings $7.49 no shipping for the same tips. Wish I had waited a week.

Hey halfhooked,
How often do you use your sled in RI? And what is your rule of thumb for ice thickness before you use it (lets say all black ice)?
I am asking because I am almost done rigging up my ATV for up north (NH) and it would be nice to use it around here as well..... in MA anyways.

the snowdog can run on less ice than I can walk on
