17lbs sure is nice. I know you can get lighter with a drill setup but I wanted a tool that was made for ice fishing. I don't have a need for a drill during the off season so I was looking for a dedicated ice auger. Also they have a 3 year warranty on the auger and battery which gives a little piece of mind for the price. If you keep an eye out it is possible to find a decent price on one. I got my in November when I saw it on Reed's website for $595 and price matched it with Scheels for free shipping. I just posted in the deals thread when Marine General had it for $599.99 though I think that deal is over.
