Fishing around trees
« on: Dec 15, 2011, 08:35 PM »
Where I fish for walleyes, water level was very low a couple of years ago, a bunch of small trees and bushes grew, then water level raised back up to normal levels.  this spring I did really well out of the boat jigging in and around the trees.  I would like to try and ice fish right around them, but i have never fished for eyes this close to cover.  For those of you that fish around trees and under water brush, how close do you generally places holes to the trees.  I will be fishing with tip ups, so I am worried about a fish taking the bait and running straight into the brush.  It is probably around 10 ft deep, and I plan on fishing my bait about 2-3 feet above the bottom, because of the trees.  Any information you can give me about fishing around trees would be awesome.
