Checking for ice condition

I was out there on Jan 2. Ice on Brooks Bay was around 7 to 8 inches. Lake was packed with people, sleds and atvs. I’m heading there tomorrow morning for the day. Hopefully it’s more quiet tomorrow.

That lake is very busy and pressured.

That lake is very busy and pressured.

It is. I spent 10 hrs straight on it the other day. I did figure them out later on but it took me awhile. I marked a lot of crappie. I had to really finesse my setup and then it was great. Tangled with the same muskie twice. Broke off on it at one spot. Two hrs later totally different spot I caught her again. I could see my lure from hours before in her mouth. I tried getting lures out while her head was in hole but it was too big. All on three lb line. Hate leaving lures in fish but I didn’t have much of a choice.
