Ya, the first one at the camera came over to my lure in all the stirred up ground and i caught him. It was 30 inches long. We caught 5 burbot that day. Caught the same one twice once.

Wow! That was cool indeed.  That last one looked like a behemoth.  That lake is good for burbs.

I don't know if you are the one that recorded the video or not.  If so, you could have caught way more of those burbs with a simple jig and minnow.  As soon as the feel the metal on the spoon, spit out!  One other tip, jig to bring them in and hardly move it all once they are nosing it.  Only if they start to move away or need help finding it give a little twitch.  Love them burbs!

Why doesn't he set the hook when he can SEE the burb swallow the whole lure? I mean, he is watching it on the screen.  ???

first video was mine, not the second one, whoever was fish in that second video did not know how to catch those burbs.

I have never seen a burbot or knew what one was until this site came along. The NY reg book has nothing other ... "all other species.... all year.....  any size .....any number"  Catagory

I see in the record section 16lb 12 0z is the NY record from lake Ontario in Feb 1991
