Agreed! Untill my 10 year old Vexilar FL-8 SLT breaks or sinks to the bottom of a lake or river it will be the only flasher I use. The only cost of keeping it up was a new battery after 6 years.

Picked it up to use on ice and on the boat. Works just fine after some initial problems with the software version on the finder.

This will be it's third season on ice.

I've had both vex and marcum and currently have a vex. If I had to buy another I would be happy to draw either brand name out of hat and fish with it.

my buddy has the Gentz Fl-8 package. i like it a lot so i one upped him and picked up the FL-12 at a wholesale price brand new!! we got Vexilars after meeting with Dave Gentz. Name recognition played a big part of it too. 50 years of products is big as well!

I had an FL-8, and upgraded to an FL20.

I have been very happy with it, and see no reason to change.

Marcum LX-5: lot's a power! superfine line. True 3 color. Charge/monitoring device. Interference rejection.
Dual-beam transducer......zoom.

Using a FL8-SE and I don't think I would ever have a need to upgrade or change.

i just got vex in december. went with the FL-18 for a few reasons:

it was cheaper than the FL-20.. has dual beam (9 and 19) so i can target the bottom better using the narrow beam. i dont think the 8SE has that feature.

not sure why i went with vex...just reviews from friends who use them.

i love this thing, it really helps me target whats under me. great investment for sure.
