Tank Warmer
« on: Jul 07, 2013, 08:00 AM »
It's like a neoprene cozy for 1lb propane bottles. They claim it increases the life of the propane in your tank by up to 35%. Only $4.99, anyone use them with their Mr. Buddy Heaters? Any information greatly appreciated.

I've seen this too.  But said 20%.

Where did you see yours advertised.  I might as well pick 1 up for that price.  Got noting to loose.

I saw it in a Reeds 2013 catalog, for $4.99 I was thinking the same thing.

The tanks get cold from the refrigerant effect of liquid propane evaporating.  That is why the frost ring tells you how much gas is left and indicates that the tank is colder than the surrounding air. Wrapping insulation around the tank will not help at all.

That's exactly what I found out...and I figured it would happen. I wrapped a couple in closed cell foam just for the heck of it, while being used on my Buddy heater. Not a bit of difference. I would suggest saving your money, as stated by gearheart, the evap might even be colder, IMO.
