How far north would someone need to go to find fishable ice right now ?? I know it's still early but I'm itching to get out there ??

You could try Nunavik. I'd probably contact their local chamber of commerce before driving up there though.

You need to go south, not north. Some of the lakes in southern Chile and Argentina have safe ice until mid October.

I was thinking the same thing lol. That or maybe up in the arctic circle, either way no idea what kind of fish you’d be catching.

I was just watching the TV show Life Below Zero, a family was ice fishing with rods they made. He said that they were called Tiktaalik by the locals.
Also known as sheefish. The are related to whitefish and 30lb fish are not uncommon in some systems.

last 5 years I've had ice to fish on by November 10th and by the 4th last year .......hoping for a repeat this year lol
