Why is most of the jigs around glow in the dark?
-
Improved visibility in lowlight conditions. I never leave home without them or my vex.

Think about it, your ice fishing , your standing on a large sheet of ice that covers the whole lake, its dark under there. Is your question answered or do i have to go in in depth explanation? ;D

i get it now

o yea sorry about the name calling before i was mad

Thats okay, we are all a little cranky because we still have another month to wait untill ice fishing. ;)

Glow in the dark jigs are the way the way to go for crappies during twighlight or after dark. A bright LED headlight will charge them up. Recharge about once every ten minutes. The glow lures really increase crappie catches in low light conditions.

I was out last weekend ::) My favourite crappie lake is iced over...I don't know if there is any thickness to it yet, but it won't be long since we are getting between -15 and -20 C overnight and around -10 in the day.

hey rapala you think the jigging shad rap in glow is a good bait for crappie, picked this one up the other day, have you used it???

Well i made a topic asking if it caught crappie last month, it should be some where on the crappie forums. I personally haven't caught crappie on it, but supposedly it's possible, but the other people considered using a normal jigging rapala.

I have a small SUPER bright flashlight I keep in my tacklebox, point it at my glow jigs and brightens them right up. I was open water fishing a few months back, no luck with crappies, but snagged about a 2 or so lbs bullhead with one, biggest bullhead I have ever seen.

keep them charged you will catch fish. they make a big difference.FH

Are those small keychain type flashlights all the jig manufacturers worth the 10 bucks?? I have always just used a really bright small flashlight.

HT makeso ne for 5 bucks I like it its small and works well had it a couple of seasons now and the batteries still work. If all else fails use your Digi Camera Flash works good when you dont have anything else .

Northland makes one for about $6, they are cheaper than the Lindy Taser and work just as good. I picked up the LED flexlight for my VEX, I think that will be charging most of my jigs from now on. ;D

I have a small LED light and I recharge approx. every 5-10 mins. They do help a lot I prefer the Moon Glow Jigs in a 10 or a 12 black and gold glitter on one side, white glow on the other with a red eye . But that's just my preference. I actually caught a 27" Pike last year on my crappie set up one night.
