Michigan Ice?
« on: Oct 30, 2019, 07:00 PM »
We have lots of rain and temps in the 40's. Fished off shore last night and got 2 keeper Bluegills, along with some smaller ones, and a couple little Bass. I live in the Iosco Co. Long Lake area. Hope to be fishing hard water by Christmas.

Funniest thing about ice fishing for me is when people who know nothing about ice activities try to warn me about the dangers of the ice...

Lots of ponds with skim ice. If the temps stay low and the snow stays away, I know a couple of early freezers that I might be able to get on in 1 or 2 weeks. Turkey and fish for Thanksgiving...not a bad combo.😉

I was just down by the launch at our lake. The lake was pretty well covered with skim ice yesterday. The wind had opened a lot of it back up this morning. I could see where some one had broke ice to pull their boat out this morning. I was at the guys place next to the launch to tell him that a contractor had left his garage door open yesterday, so I closed it. He was carrying an 8 foot 4x6 to his truck. It had blown clear across the lake from the place his son had just bought close to a mile away. What are the odds of it ending up at his dads dock?

I saw a report today of one guy found 3 to 3 1/5 inches of ice on a small lake. He said he is going to try and fish it tomorrow. I think it may be possible if it is not in one of the snow areas. I have about 2 inches of snow on the ground here but in areas west they have up to 30 inches

Just read on another site that there is 4-5" , 200 yards out on south side of Houghton Lake. Possible I guess.

Parts of KL hads been froze over for almost 2 weeks now. I heard of 4 to 5inches off the south shore but they said it gets thin out about 50 yards or so. Pictures show of some guys way out on the easy bay this weekend

Had about 2" on the lake across the street before the rain and warm days. It was 21 here this morning. Be careful out there.

Never lost the ice on my lake in the West Branch area.  Still has about 3 inches and the weather is getting colder again.

Our 350 acre private lake 40 miles north of GR has skimmed over at least three times. It is completely ice free today.
