MIRC meeting -Hardside 06
« on: Nov 01, 2006, 03:13 PM »
Ok I just got the clearance from my folks . Im looking into having a small  ::) icefishing get together this winter. My folks have a cottage on Lake mitchell in cadillac. Im thinking sometime in janruary . The cottage sleeps 6 with plenty of room or up to 10 with some floor sleepers. Im hoping to do a weekend thing fish most of Saturday and part of sunday. Im sure well have enough equiptment (shanty's augers and stuff) but  would appreciate if we all chipped in on food beer , bait and such .

So far I think the list of people includes
1. Me
2. Sleepac
3.Flock
4. Walleyechaser
5. Slimechaser
6. Quack attack ?
7. spoonfed (i think he lives in the area) and offered his service as a guide LOL sorry spoon  ;D

If I missed anyone or if you interested let me know. !

If we plan far enough ahead we may even be able to get the Wisconsin fellas out here.

Well that's about enough for a Hold'em game, I'll bring the cards and the chips.

Save up your peso's guys, Pilgrim's has the best selection of ice fishin' lures and gear I've seen.

Have a Shappel 4000dx and a trap.

Hold em sounds good but I'm no high roller and I suck at it.

My Clam will fit 2 and the cheap generic brand one I have can also fit 2.

I live in Manistee (approx 60 miles away).  I have a 1 person hardside and a two person portable + a snowmobile to haul things out with.  I probably wouldn't stay over the night, but I'd sure like to fish Mitchell.

Clam 4600 - fits 2 - Vex FL8-SLT - Hand auger....hope its not too thick!

By all means, don't schedule this trip around me, however; I've got my annual Ice Fishing Outing with some fellas at Fletchers Pond during the weekend of 1.26.06 ~ 1.27.06 ~ 1.28.06.

Bring on the cold weather!!!!!

lol. nothing like pressure there pinche. ;D actually i'm not from that area really but only about 1hr45min away.i'm from the saginaw area.  just north of you guys a bit.  but i fish lk cadillac every year with my ole man.

and just for the record i declined the guide service(unless you guys are paying  ::) ). ;D  ;D  pinche is trying to trap i think. ;D but for you guys i'm more than willing to point you in the right direction.

you can count me in for all day saturday but i'll have to let you know on the weekend thing.  sounds like loads of fun though.

anyone with machines?  they would be a big plus as those lakes are pretty big and the best spots are across the lake from the access site(on mitchells anyways).

The one thing I haven't got around to buyin' yet, but would definitely help the cause. Last trip up there we didn't get to the spots we wanted due to snow and some deep drifts, was just too hard to haul the equipment through that stuff. We did get into a few decent perch on Cadillac though.

power auger
hand auger
dx4000 shanty
fish trap scout
aqua vu scout xl
vex fl8
quad
snowmobile
tips & rods

pinche- think west mitchell rd runs along the west side of the lake.  is the cabin on the lake? that would be awesome as the big and little cove is on the west side.

i would be probably bring either my quad or sled with my scout shanty but if we are in need of another shanty i could bring my 4000 4 person up to. i don't have a big enough trailer for both quad and snowmobile. i also have a dog sled that i could pull behind the machine that can transport a couple people at a time.

My wife has bought me nothing for fishing and hunting.  She has a problem with me keeping guns in the house.

my girlfriend refuses  to buy me anything hunting or fishing releated..she says its like buying me a "stay away from the girlfreind pass" if she does. lol .i guess i kinda see her logic.

i wont be able to bring up the golf cart. to far and i dont have a trailer. plus it wont handle the snow depths up there. i do have a gps , jet sled, enough buckets for everyone to sit on and enough rods to out fit probably 7 guys. my guess is that nobody will need rods though.

what kind of fish are gonna be the focus here?

Spoon the cabin is across the road from the lake but there is a canal that runs right behind the cabin and goes into the lake. Kinda like a coldisac (sp?)in a sub division.

Isn't that right where all the pannies are?  I've heard the canals are where you want to fish.

Are we fishing Mitchell or Cadillac?  Mitchell seems to get more stocking attention from the DNR.

But absolutely.  I'm always up for eyes.  Going to look at a map now.
