I'm fine with a limit but it should be based on how many 5 gallon bucket you can take instead of individual fish. Then I think 1 would be a fine limit.

Lakers too. Anytime I have fished with his group they out fished me 10 to 1. It was embarrassing actually. They know how to fish for sure. No doubt bout that.

Disagree....Terry has a hidden horseshoe somewhere...we did battle hard on Saturday in 2 different areas...I think we tied 19 each...I cant beat him most days.

If south bay has an issue with litter or violations,  why aren't those addressed directly ? If it's an over harvest issue then that's another matter.

Little off topic.  It does anyone ever target the small mouth bass ice fishing. Everyone is always talking about the massive schools of smallies but I’ve never hooked into one once fishing lg. Anyone ever catch one?  I don’t really keep the fish I catch maybe a few panfish. So I do t really care what’s on the end as long as it pulls hard

bass are out of season. You can only target them with 100% artificials. Catch and release only. You cant tip a pimple with a dead baitfish, or a perch jig with a spike.

That being said, there are giant schools of smallies. They just winter in different areas then where the perch are, and where most fish for lakers. I have a dozen or so waypoints of winter holes that are STACKED with smallies right now. hundreds, if not thousands...you can pull up right now and catch them all day long. These areas are 50-100' of water.

Ok let me know when you wan go ! I do a lot of laker fishing later in the season. I like to get my panfish/ eyes on first. Mix it up a little. I’ve seen fish act funny On the sonar I think could be smallies but don’t hit.

The areas I have where they winter are still open water/ just froze in the last few days.... and it’s a hike. Can’t walk it. I have never fished for them through the ice.

But bass are funny... they have very unique winter locations.

Have you watched my YouTube videos. I don’t walk lol. Hopefully in a week or so I’ll get out onto lg. This snow is slowing down my fishing too many snow blowers in the shop to get out during the week. I think this weekend we are going to head over to the gsl while the water is still crazy high and Try to get Rowan on a pike. He’s been trying to hook up on one every weekend

Haha yeah, I know you don’t want. I have a atv also. It will be registered this week. Funny you mention GSL for pike. We should definitely get out there. I’m changing gears after one more LG trip to GSL to target pike for the rest of the year as well with my buddy. I need a 25lber +. I have a couple of areas to try.

From mdb you’ll be fine. I was out sat and had 4-5” of snow ice then 1-2” of water and another 4-5” of black ice on bottom. Should be at least 12” total by Saturday I would imagine but check constantly as you head to deeper water.

Ridges have been forming so once you get near hearthstone I'd avoid driving on ice north of there unless you've walked it.  Ridges past the islands got particularly bad and on the main lake out of  vets there was giant areas of paper thin ice on Sunday.  With snow cover now it's going to be a bit before you can safely take a machine up near the deep water on vets.

Jigging Lakers must be a blast if you crazy guys are willing to be in 100 ft of water on 5 inches of ice. You guys lost me at the patches of thin ice phrase.
