Wading in the water hasn't been bad today.   The wind is what stinks after you get soaked.    Laker bite was ok.   I have managed 5 so far with the group getting  10 or so.

Were you guys off MDB?  Saw a few groups out there.  I ended up getting four lakers with two legals...I need to get a flasher badly,

Ice is nasty not I was out only for an hour it was super soft and pretty broken looking tons of cracks and spots where chunks broke and thawed overall it's pretty scary.... I'll keep going for it though

Harris bay had some of the strangest looking stuff especially on the walk out.  It was like a patchwork quilt of different shapes and colors of ice lol.  The only good thing was that it was a bit thicker than the black ice that was farther out.

Great start to the new year on the George... 1st time out this year and my buddy caught this on a small jig while fishing for perch.

Thanks goes out to the group of guys who came over and helped land this bad boy it was greatly appreciated.

I just wish this was my fish. :(

Rainy sloppy day off Vet's. We had good clear ice ~ 6". Slammed the perch most being in the 6" to 8" that went back to grow up. Caught enough keepers for a nice fish fry. Found them in 34 FOW.

Well done man! That feeling is just as good or better than catching them on your own.
Who'd you bring out?

5 gallon pail full = 2 hrs of electric filet knife = 3 to 5 minute cook time = 30 seconds to devour ..... Tasty is a understatement .... I need to get back out there ....

We got into some nice lakers also out in front of heartstone camp ground!!  We measured 6 to 7 inches of ice and got 3 keepers many small ones to keep us busy in between flags!!  Fished in about 60 plus foot! ;D. The ice was making noises that was very entertaining!!
How was the hill down to the lake?

Jake, sounds like poetic justice. Were you up by MDB or further up north? How is the project coming along? :icefish: :icefish: :icefish:

Set up an hour before dawn 0-10' under the ice. An hour after dawn take a nap until an hour before dusk and check your baits  ;D.

Mike.        Up north ... Almost around the bend ... Progress is at a stand still because of the rain ... Just about freezing here now . Pretty much 1 big sheet of ice ... The night time is the only time I like a little wind .. To dry things up!!!

We got 15 I think out of the group.  A lot of lookers and chasers  and many misses.  Lost a big one at the hole.

I think you could probably catch lakers literally anywhere on the lake in the winter. Just have to cover some ice and look for bigger numbers or bigger fish.
