quick strikes
« on: Nov 21, 2005, 03:38 PM »
I have read about an item called a quick strike use for catching pike. I currently use double gamagatzu hooks but still lose quite a few fish. I do catch alot and know how to do it, but I am looking at a better method if one is avaliable. Has anyone used a quick strike? Can someone give directions as to how to make one? Please advise. Thanks

Chef Victor,  Quick strikes are great rigs for pike.  If your having problems hooking up, use them!  I don't have problems with octopus hooks, and they work great for releasing most pike.  Did you tie your hooks so they alternate?  I tie them in an alternating fashion, (one up and one down.)  Hook one through the head and one in the dorsal.  Neat thing about quick strikes is the waiting is eliminated.     Good luck!
