I have tried these but found they tended to come apart when I set the hook. There is 2 pieces...the rod and the reel part. The rod slips into a little hole in the reel body. Thats where it mostly came apart. I was used to the Marmish (Palm rod) and expected similar results in quality. I like to manipulate (vibrate) the hook and that was hard to do with the fiskas. They do have a nice warm to hold reel area though.

I ordered one a couple of years ago. Haven't used it too much. Too small for my big hands.
If you're just sight fishing in shallow water it might not be too bad though. If you do order one, you might want to order an extra spring bobber, the one that came with mine broke right away. I just put a regular old spring bobber on it afterwords.

Marmish palm rods are tough, you could step on them and they would be fine.

I'll make that another vote for the marmish rods. I have a few and always carry them with me in case the bite gets tuff

I'm anxiously awaiting my order from Marmish. I can't wait to use the palm rod. The feedback I've heard on the Fiskas rod prompted me to buy the Marmish. I post up a report after I use it.

Mike,

If you go up the the ice show, stop by his booth and he will fill you in on different ways of fishing the rod. We have a couple of them and on tuff days that is the rod I will pull out and use.  It has saved the day more than once.

I have two Marmish rods and they work very well. I'm going to pick up a Jonttu palm rod from YBD eventually to try.

Yep, if you can find Len at the ice show he will show you how to use it. He is a super nice guy who loves to talk fishing. Listen to what he says very carefuly and you will be very sucsessful with the Marmish.

thanks for the tips on talking with Len. I plan on going to the show unless we have some fishable ice around home.
