Good Morning everyone

We have had a couple wild days and nights of weather around here. Yesterday a couple areas both north and south of us got hammered with straight line winds and hail. I had a few calls from people needing help getting in and out of their driveways garages and houses. By the time I got done yesterday I was totally shot. The temps were in the mid 90's with dew points hitting 80, I pitied those without power.

My wife made it to the specialist yesterday. She had a 2 hour appointment with the new Dr. He switched up a couple of her drops and added a pill that she hadn't taken yet. Normal eye pressure is like 20, hers was almost 60 in her bad eye. She will go back in next week and they will go from there. He said that for a short duration they eye can take pressure like she is experiencing, but over an extended period it will cause blindness. She told him she has been fighting it for almost 3 years, which I didn't even realize, and he said it will be handled in the next few weeks ??? I want to thank everyone that has asked about her and that have sent their best wishes

The new computer seems pretty nice, it's a Lanovo the same brand that they use where my wife works. They had used Dell for the last 25 years, but after too many unanswered tech problems, they decided to switch. Not a lot different physically but internally there are a few things that are nice. I can't believe how smooth it runs and how quiet it is. My old one made lots of noise and of course was continually over heating and shutting down. Eddie this one has 2 fans in it so I doubt it will even burp when you send a wheelbarrow load of pictures for posting :roflmao:

I collected cards yesterday but fell asleep before uploading them. With rain and storms rolling in I should have some time if the phone doesn't ring.

Hope you all have an excellent day  Stay safe.

Good evening a hot humid nasty day here in New Windsor i looked at conditions for my town on Weather Underground at 5PM temperature listed as 94 and heat index at 110 we do have a 7 mph breeze which might offer a little comfort. Hope all of you with similar weather are finding ways to stay comfortable.
Icefisher-45 feel bad for you that the headaches are still occurring. Be sure to let your lawyer know about neck and arm feeling worse after exam by court doctor. May your wife be back to full time before to long.
Dr.Speckler may you fever stop might be time to see your doctor or visit a walk in clinic if one exists in your area. Get well soon.
Ice Wanderer thank you for the info. on Hound of the Baskervilles. I'm not sure the night time air has been these past few days hope things are not to warm in your home. Good to hear you have a date set for surgery. May the cell phone signal booster work for you and son #3. Guess the ADK. Park Authority regulates how many and who can put up cell phone towers. I know in my area some of the phone companies have approached or have lease agreements with ire dept.'s to put antennas on their radio towers to improve signal and area coverage.
Hunts2Long that is great news on your wife .   Hope your having a nice day with Lindsay and your grand puppies.
Eddie  while there are no regulations in regard to temperature and humidity at your work place i'm sure animal rights groups have pressure the horse racing industry to have them also the horse owners don't want their animals in bad health.  Good to read yesterday was not to unbearable on the job site. I figure the marble pieces might be recycled in some way. Keep a watch on your garden don't need to loose any plants to this weather.
IFF thank you for explaining difference between Swamp Cooler and AC unit. Given the lower cost to operate and generally lower humidity levels in the Rocky Mtn. states I see why my relatives have swamp Coolers over AC units . Any more raccoons in your trap the past few days.
Wallyworld the fire dept. is so lucky to have you God Bless for baking during this heat wave.   Maybe you should purchased one of those young child pools to use during this type of weather instead of running through lawn sprinkler . ::) ;D
Whopper Stopper guess the bad weather has left you swamped with calls for assistance.May your wife see some improvement with the new pill and eye drop changes. Think the two of you are up to speed with the new laptop  with all your dealing with thanks for posting the game camera footage.

A safe night to everyone. May the weather guessers be correct and all of us see less humidity and lower temperatures next week.

Steve, only critter I have seen lately was a coyote this morning, in the back yard, no doubt looking for one of the resident rabbits, TV was on so when I opened the patio door it split in a hurry over the fence.  No raccoons that I have noticed.

Good Morning Everyone,
70* and the same heavy air as yesterday, high of 90 today.  Think I saw Mr.Ninja out in the hallway when I signed in, Good Morning Mark!

Bud...sounds like you’ve got the raccoon problems in check now.  Any fishing trips coming up? Thanks for explaining the swamp coolers, never heard of them before either.
Steve...agreed on the horses, believe they already had one casualty at the track already this season. I’m sure they have their hands full on a daily basis with the Animal Rights groups. Unfortunately with horse racing, the odds are good there will be more casualties and protests to come. Here’s an article from 2 years ago at Saratoga. https://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=AwrJ61uVITRdsVoApYPBGOd_;_ylu=X3oDMTByOHZyb21tBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--/RV=2/RE=1563726358/RO=10/RU=https%3a%2f%2fdailygazette.com%2farticle%2f2017%2f08%2f02%2fspike-in-horse-deaths-at-saratoga-raises-concerns/RK=2/RS=NcWw6KNqFPSJon0uaM0G4yigCfM-
Marv....you must have been wiped right out after all that tree removal yesterday with the saws....weed whacking became too much for me, lol. The new eye Dr. sounds like a good one for Jo! Hope the new pill along with the drops has shown some relief.  Excellent videos, glad the new computer is working out well.
Wally...you are a trooper baking those cookies for the girls camp in this weather!   Certain they will be well received, excellent job!       How’s your garden looking now?

Didn’t get nearly what I wanted to accomplished yesterday, will try to finish up today before the broiler kicks on again.
Noticed 3 of my best tomato plants now showing signs of blight. Removed most of the effected stems and tried treating them with a fungicide last evening...hoping for the best.  Have found gardening this year going from being therapeutic to now becoming a PITA, lol. Lots of ups and downs, but still gratifying I guess, no quitting until the first frost.   ;D
Cawfee’s on gang...English muffins and honey to start the engine this am...help yourself!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

                 Good morning Eddie, ER's,
It's 71* and humid here on my hill, another hot one today.
Eddie.........Sorry to hear of the blight problems, hope the fungicide works. :flex: don't over do the list today.
Bud...........Swamp coolers must be a west thing, when I lived in California we used one in our house. It worked well. :flex:
Wally........ You baked cookies in this weather, props to you for doing that for the Girl Scouts.
Marv..........You did too much in that HHH weather, I hope you had a couple of cold brews afterwards.
We didn't get the cell booster finished, my son was on the roof and it was so hot his feet were burning up, he came back last night and got
that part done, all I have to do is finish running the wire and mount the booster in the house.
I hope everyone has a good Sunday either at work or out fishing.

Good Morning Everyone, It was a hot one yesterday. We went down to Walmart and got a cheap air conditioner. The new place has separate rooms no open concept here so just have to cool 1 room. We told the lawyer about how things got worse after seeing the court appointed Dr. He didn’t seem to care. Only thing we have planned to do today is go to Mass.

Ice Wanderer, It must have been very hot on the roof yesterday. Glad your almost done installing the booster. Go easy today and drink lots of water.

Mason Eddie, Hopefully the fungicide will work. Gardening can be both therapeutic and frustrating. Hope you can get out early and finish what you need to finish before the heat really kicks in.

IFF, Sounds like you have the raccoon issue under control.

Whopper Stopper, Sounds like you’ve been busy helping out your neighbors. Hopefully the new pill and eye drops helps your wife.

Dr Speckler, Hopefully your fever has broken and you feel better soon.

WallyWorld, Kudos on baking cookies for the Girl Scouts in this weather. I’m sure they will be appreciated.

I hope everyone has a great day and a safe one. Remember to drink lots of water. Beer doesn’t count. Used to transport a lot of people who became dehydrated drinking just beer. Tight lines to those on the water. God Bless

71* no air moving at all.
WW, great job with the baking in this heat.
Ice-45, I am surprised you were able to find an air conditioner with this heat. We are sticking with fans, the wife doesn't like a/c.
Eddie, I remember all those issues that you can have with a garden but I always enjoyed it
Lindsay and her b/f came up an fished yesterday. She left the dogs home where it was cool and where I wouldn't have to mess with them in this heat. Rob got a 3 and a half horse power 4 stroke for his boat and wanted to try it out. Likes it better than the electric motor. They caught 4/5 bass. They stopped here on the way back to the launch. She drank my only Becks beer I had. It was the last of a 4 pack I bought for the Super Bowl...lol She said it was well aged.
Have a good day and drink some water....med time for the wife....h2l

Good morning everyone

Les has rolled into town  The dew points will stay in the 50's for at least the next few days.

Eddie I feel your pain with gardening. My dad had a green thumb which he never passed onto me. I used to plant a good sized garden and if nothing else hail would destroy it. My sister just commented about her beautiful garden and how I best get ready for a few bags full of tomatoes. Friday night her 30 plants got pounded into the ground from ping pong ball size hail. Very frustraiting to say the least.

OG thanks for the well wishes Sir

IW good luck finishing up the booster  That's going to be nice once up and going. What does the weather cat do on the hot days ???

WW hats off to you firing up the oven  Some lucky firefighters.

45 hope the air conditioner helps to bring some extra relief

Thanks again for the well wishes for my wife. One side effect of the pill she is on is frequent bathroom visits. Last night she had to get up 3 times, but if the pills help that's a small price to pay.

Hope you all have an excellent Sunday  Stay safe.

Finally a decent start to the day only 67* to start the day. LES is guessed to show up this afternoon.  a place north of us got a foot of rain. I only had 3/10 from that storm. I have not looked to see what we got from the two storms that went through after supper last night.

We lost power around 2 am Saturday and got it back a little after 4pm. We are luck as there a lot of peple that a looking at Monday before they get it back. The wife's daughter was lucky with this storm as she has no damge when those near her had a lot of trees down. There was a trampoline hanging from the cable lines. She pays higher insurance due to living in a high wind area.

WS I hope you did not have the high winds my son got into on 60 out side of Mankato. There were two or three semis blown over. When I called him he was still an hour away from Mankato and doing less than 5 mph due to some ting bakcing up traffic ahead of him. His son had to drive 100 miles to pick up a H-haul that could be take out of MN so he could move back home.

Hopefully your wifes new Dr can get here eye poblem solved.

I have an Lenovo all in one computer and love it. Except that it has Microsot Edge on it that does not let me copy and paste. GRRRR!

ww There was no baking here yesteray as the oven will not work with the power out. Luckily the burners can be lit with a match so we could cook.

Marv I see you posted while I was retyping what I lost. While I was at my brothers one of the great grand kids brought in a few cherry tomatoes. His wife had a fit making the kid let her wash them before he could eat them. I doubt that they had any spray on them. I should be dead from all of the cherry tomatoes I ate fresh off the plants. His wife is such a clean freak so thieir kids always were sick due to not having much of an immune system

Morning all,

DS......glad to hear you're feeling better after a good night's sleep

H2L.....just fans here too except the bedroom, central air sounds better & better every year tho  ;)

TT.....glad your power wasn't out too long   we lost power twice yesterday but only for a few seconds each time, would have had to buy cookies if it stayed out too long  ::)

WS.....enjoy the nice weather, supposed to get here starting tomorrow   hope the side effects diminish as her body adjusts  :-\

IW......can't even imagine what the temps on the roof were  :o  good idea finishing that part at night  ;)

MrC.....by mid afternoon I was considering just getting in my car and running the a/c  in between batches of cookies  :woot:

Eddie.....my garden did finally start growing, will have some peppers shortly and have picked 1 cuke so far   my tomato plants also appear to be getting blight  >:(  it has been an ongoing battle the past few years, this year I did the plants in buckets sitting on the deck, thought that might help....not true I guess  seriously considering not even bothering with a garden after this year  :-\

IF45.....glad you were able to score an air conditioner   it sure helps to have at least one cool room in the house  ;)2

Not much going on today, MrWW will be at the firehouse most of the day, I'll be near a fan  :woot:

Have a good day, keep cool. Stay safe.

Finished removal of contents from the old shelter, watered the tomatoes, before it got unbearable by my standards.  Convinced myself I deserve a coffee and baileys in the recliner.  68* for some reason feels cold  ;D

Good evening waiting for the expected temperature/humidity change forecast for tomorrow . I've reached a personal milestone here at Ice shanty this is my five thousandth post fitting thread for it sure half or more of my post total has been to this thread since it's creation.
IFF may you have relocated the local raccoon population near your home. Any plans for the shelter now that you have it cleaned out.
Eddie thank you for the link on Saratoga race track and horse racing pracices in NY. I had my TV on and saw on channel guide broadcast of today's races watched part of broadcast they had track side reporter showing cold water hoses and barrels of ice in place to help any horse suffering for heat related problems also 3 vets at the track. May you have caught the tomatoe blight in time and be able to save your plants.
Ice Wanderer better to install part of signal booster that goes on your roof early in the morning or at night in this weather assume you have asphalt based singles which are easily damage during periods of high heat. Hope the system improves your call reception.
Icefisher-45 glad you found an A/C unit at Walmart so at least you can keep one room comfortable during periods of high heat/humidity.
OLd Goat may you see relief from the heat/humidity this week. Any new garage sales finds.
Hunts2long so long as the fans keep the two of you comfortable. smart move buy Lindsay to leave her dogs at home in this weather.
Whopper Stopper enjoy Les Humid's visit please send hind East after a few days. Sorry to hear about sister's garden is hail of that size common in Minnesota . Ditto Wallyworld's words on your wife's new eye pill side effect.
Tom Turkey glad you finally saw some rain and power outage was brief one.
Dr. Speckler good to read your feeling better good job on the research and having some penicillin on hand.
Wallyworld may you be able to save some of the tomatoe plants. How many dozen cookies did you end up baking.

A safe night to everyone May all dealing with high temperature and humidity see a weather change this week. Best to all fishing.

Good morning Eddie! Good morning everyone

From dew points in the 70's to dew points in the 50's  Yesterday we sat outside and even made a fire in the pit. In the afternoon I got my chipper out and the s-i-l and I cut a bunch of trees around the boarder of our property. It was getting where it was hard to mow without getting swatted in the face. After we finished we broke out the mowers and took care of the lawn chores. It felt great after the last couple of weeks to get out and enjoy the weather.

Congratulations mr.clean  Hail seems to come every year in different sizes

Eddie hope you and the crew have a good week  Enjoy Les when he rolls into town, lets hope he brings his big suitcase

WW how was the get together at the firehouse ???

TT we didn't get the high winds you wrote about but, but straight east of us about 30 miles in Wisconsin, a few towns got leveled. Also as I had mentioned north of us about 50 miles they got blasted. Lots of damage to both areas, both areas looking for volunteers, I just didn't feel like packing up and partaking. I did tell my sister when they are ready I would help get 6-8 trees on the ground for them.

I am also running late, my ride is waiting.

Hope you all have an excellent day  Stay safe.

                Good morning Eddie, WS, ER's,
It's 63* here on my hill this am with thunderstorms in the forecast. ::)
Eddie..........I'm sure the crew will like these temps rather than the ones we've had.
Marv...........The weather cat as a spot under a ceiling fan to stay cool or is down in the basement. :flex: I bet the change in temps felt
good. Good job for you and Jen did to spruce up the yard.
Steve..........It was hot on the roof for sure, I wanted to start earlier but my so didn't get here before it got full sun. Congrats on
                the 5,000 post.
Wally...........During this hot spell I made excuses to go somewhere so I could take advantage of the AC. :woot:
Bud.............Any lower temp feels cold at this point, wait till winter the one that complained it was too cold this spring now says it too hot,
my wife is one of them. I told her "I don't want to hear it". :o Coffee and Bailey's sounds good.

63* this morning.
Eddie, should be better weather to work in this week.
TT, it is great that you can still use the stove top when the power is out.
WS, that is some good size hail. Hope there was no damage.
Will be getting out on the lake later in the week.  Was hoping for Wed. but I have a Drs. appt. DEC has been trying to locate a drowning victim down by the campsite since late Sat. night. I know they had the launch at the campsite closed all day Sunday. Other than that I haven't heard much about what happened, only that it is a male.

On Sat. we got a notice in the mail of a recall/alert on the med that the wife took on her 3 infusions, one of which we ended up in the ER. After reading it over we are sure that is what caused her issues earlier this month. That was the visit to Albany Med. where the ER nurse didn't want to hear anything about the infusion the day before.

Hope everyone has a good day and enjoy the cooler temps...h2l

LES finally got here for a couple of days. 59*

I saw a power company bucket truck go by around supper time. It did not come back through until after dark. I wonder what that was about as I thought all of the power was back on. There are a still a lot with out power south of us.

H2l There has been 10 drownings so far in Lake Michigan this year plus many more on inland lakes. They are looking for a victim in a deep inland lake that does not let the divers stay down for a long time. Lake Michigan gets some strong under tow, rip currents as they are called now, near break waters when the waves are high sucking swimmers out in the lake.

WS My son went through your area yesterday headed for a BB in Duluth. He and his wife are off for the week and making a trip through the UP after getting the grandson loaded up for his move back to Michigan. Hopefully he can find the grand daughter of the friends I visited every summer at the old place they had. When I went to check if she still owned the property they wanted big money on Equalization to get owner names now. I found out a couple of years ago that she owned it and got her address where she is living in Wisconsin with out paying.

Here are a couple videos. Kind of quiet yesterday, probably from all the noise we made.

Good afternoon ER's. Like many others, Les is in town for awhile and he brought a friend with him, Mr. Cool!!! A/C is off and the windows are open letting in a nice northerly breeze!   I hope he's visiting many of you and the heat wave is broken!! We had torrential rains and t-storms ushering in the cold front last night. Now to hop on the mower tomorrow after it dries out!! I hope all of you have a good day doing whatever is on your planner!!

Good Afternoon Everyone, Definitely cooler today. Light rain. I had posted earlier but it didn’t post.

Whopper Stopper, that certainly was some big hail. Thank you for sharing those videos. They help make my day.

Hunts2long, I hope your wife is feeling better. Sounds like the medication did make her sicker. Seems to be a lot of drownings this year. We got the last ac at Walmart mostly for the pup. I’m not a big fan of them either.

Dr Speckler, That’s good the antibiotics are working and your feeling better. Nothing better then a good nights sleep.

Mr Clean, Congratulations on your five thousandth post.

Ice Wanderer, Hope you have a good day and you don’t have to do to much cleaning.

Afternoon all,

H2L.....so sad to hear of another drowning  :'(  hope the recovery is made soon for the families sake  :(

WS.....saw my first fawns of the season last night on the edge of our woods, twins following mom around snacking on morning glory vines   love the fawn/bunny video

MrC.....congrats on the milestone    I guess I made somwhere between 35 & 40 dozen assorted cookies/brownies/cupcakes, doing it all again Wednesday for the girl's final camp day on Thursday  ;)

IW.....been raining here all day, another 1" so far   temps only in the upper 60's   wonderful break  @)

Eddie....hope you didn't spend the whole day running behind  ;D

The plan for today was to start hauling firewood to the lean to, figured the ground was dry enough if we made a little smaller loads than usual, and the heat wave was over.  No sooner did we get the tractor and trailer out than the rain started, hasn't stopped yet  ::)  so now it's back to the waiting game, hopefully by the middle/end of the week we can get going on it and get it under cover finally.

Have a good evening whatever you have going on, enjoy the cooler weather   Stay safe.

Good evening felt good to have cooler weather today still a good amount of humidity present earlier today. Thunderstorms moved through between 5-9PM . Little treat this morning opened my window blinds and see two does and their fawns feeding on foliage the separates my complex from neighboring properties. Hopefully they return in coming days.
Eddie had to feel better today working in lower temperature and humidity.
Whopper Stopper that is some good sized hail stones in the photo. Good job by your SIL and you with the yard work. Thank you for today's game camera photos.
Ice Wander is the cell phone signal booster system fully installed and have you tested it out yet to see if it helps with your reception . Have a good visit with your nephew and niece.
Hunts2long I would save and make copies of the medicine recall/alert to have at hand next time your wife has infusions so she does not receive the same patch of medication again and have problems. Ditto Wallyworld's comments on the drowning victim.
Tom Turkey depending on how the power supply to your community is wired some folks may have been without power when you first saw the truck. May your son and DIL have a great time in the UP.
OldSailor good to hear you are seeing cooler weather and less humidity.
Icefisher-45 hope you had a good day ,hope your dog is enjoying the AC.
Wallyworld that is some serious baking once again I commend you for all you do to support the fire dept.   . May you get the firewood relocated later this week.
Thank you for the congratulations on my reaching 5 thousand posts.

A good night to all enjoy the nicer weather.

Good Morning Everyone,
Light rain falling and 61*, high of 71 today. Rains started off and on around our coffee break yesterday and haven’t let up much since...won’t need to water the garden for a few days!  ;D

Steve...the cooler temps and low dew points were very much welcomed by everyone!
Wally...it’s funny how starting out late in the morning kind of stays with you...think I caught every possible red light on my drive into work yesterday, lol. Great job on all the bake goods, wow!
Marv...these videos are getting addictive, great job!     That hail could put a hurting on a lot of things, hope your vehicles and property were spared!
H2...had a few guys at work who were up on the reservoir when that drowning took place, thoughts and prayers sent out to the family.  That’s scarey about the meds and the recall, not to mention the effect it had on your wife, wow. I hope there are no other problems for your wife...sounds like a legal issue coming? Best wishes sent...
Jeff... hope you had a great day with your grandson yesterday and your wife had safe travels back home!

What a change in the weather conditions, over 30* cooler from the highs in some areas yesterday!
Some drama going on down at the workplace, nothing I care to get involved with, but it has resulted in 3 guys now seeking employment elsewhere. Grown men acting like children...kind of makes us all look bad.
With a little luck, we’ll finish out our main area on the marble tomorrow. Time to see what the day brings....Cawfee’s on!
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing!

Good morning Eddie! Good morning everyone

64 degrees with another day of near perfect weather.

Eddie glad you like the videos. I find myself full of anticipation when plugging the cards in hoping to find something to share. I will try to keep it up as long as the backyard critters keep coming.

I am going to spend a couple hours throwing for muskies this morning. It's not a good day for them, but I need some water time.

Hope you all have an excellent day  Stay safe.
