Anybody ever used the Normark power auger?
« on: Dec 15, 2004, 08:26 AM »
Just looking at them, very light under 21 lbs for the 8"  auger. They are very expensive though 769$ for the 8 ". Maybe next year if I save up enough. I like the nils master but they don't have any suppliers here and I am worried if I have to change the blades it will be a hassle.

ANy comments??

I thought they stopped making them last year? That was the rumor, but it may have been just a rumor. I looked long and hard at them before I purchased my Nils, but I did not see any advantage for the difference in $$. The other down side was the blades on the Normark don't last as long.  I keep an extra cutting head for my Nils, so if I have a problem (ie. big rock  ::) ) I just put the new one on and I don't have to worry about losing out on any fishing time.

I'm guessing that you are in Canada? I don't believe they sell the Normarks in the US.

Yeah I am from Canada. We can get normark here, actually the hand augers are one of the most available augers around. I can't find a NIls supplier around here. If I could I would buy one.

They sell the hand augers here as well. I have a 6" Fin-Bore. I don't use it much anymore. My 8" Nils cuts just as well, I get a bigger hole out if it, and my blades last much longer.  You can get the Nils mail order. Cabelas and a couple of other sites have them.

My old man has an old NIls master hand auger. I am trying to find a replacement blade for it. I called Jp at nils master but he hasn't shipped it out yet. I am beginning to get frustrated and I am about to give up with Nils master

I'm sure JP will ship them soon. If you need another source, fish307.com has them as well.

I Hope so, the ice is going to be ready here soon. ANd the shipments across the border do get held up often at customs.

Thanks

Sturgeon.
