Spectacular Day! (w/pics)
« on: Jan 16, 2017, 06:33 PM »

This pretty much summed up my day. 22" Brown (Picture doesn't do her justice), 33" Pickerel, 29.5" Pickerel, about a dozen White Perch, and 15-20 Yellow Perch. Missed a handful, and everybody is still swimming. All caught on jig rods. Was the first one on the lake and the last one to leave. Amazing day overall. Fishing alone made parts of todays mayhem a bit stressful at times haha. This was a day that will stick with me for a while, and I now need to put more time into this body of water. Love me some HT Ice Riggers.

I wish there were a way to get away from the "grip and grin" style photos during the ice season, but I figured one out yet. Maybe the "Keep 'Em Wet" style plexiglass box of water.

I would think a 33" pickerel would be a new State record if you had kept it (7 pds 2oz).

Great day Dave!  That's quite a haul of fish.  Pickerel that big would have been good eaters.

That Brown looked like a beast good job.

She put up a hell of a fight. Got her on a ML St. Croix spinning rig with 4lb test. Managed to get her to the hole 4 times before getting her through the ice. The 33" inch Pickerel was on the same rig. Definitely pushed the limits of the rod. The handle was bent so much the reel was coming off the cork. Craziness.

Sorry to call you on this but I find it hard to believe that pick was 33 inches. I've caught a few 25 inch fish that were pushing 5 lbs. A 33 incher would break state if not world record. Are you estimating??

Yeah no worries. I did put a tape to it and if it didn't hit 33" it was 32 and change. Didn't get a weight on it. Solo venture and wasn't making any more of it than a good time and getting the fish back in the water haha.
