Never fished off Brown’s but going to give it a whirl tomorrow. Do people find more success with tip-ups or being mobile and jigging?

I should have noted I am targeting anything that will bite: panfish, pickerel, walleye or the rare Saratoga northern

I’m on the Riley cove side of the lake, but I’ve been having more success with smaller baits on tip ups. We’ve drilled dozens and dozens of holes and dropped a finder down but still can’t get on the pan fish on our side of the lake.

As for ice, be careful of those bled out holes. You’ve got patches of an inch in some places ESPECIALLY around the hot springs. You can drop from 5” to 2” in a hurry. That said I was out a half mile or more and had 5” of ice with 3” of slush on top of it.

There are also these visible seams, massive cracks in the ice that you can follow, and you will find very consistent 8” of ice. Just be smart about it, be safe about it. I drill a LOT of holes and measure all of them.

The guys making sled tracks all over the lake are on 800s and 1000s and don’t stop until they get back to their front yard. Get those monster engine sleds on plane and you can go across a good stretch of open water, let alone thin ice.

Hope I’ve helped a little. I wish you many flags.

Very helpful, thank you. Riley Cove has always been kind to me in open water, caught the biggest pike I’ve ever caught on Saratoga their a few Memorial Days go. Don’t think the princess will walk as far as I want to, but we’ll get out as far as feel safe heading to snake hill, find the dropoff and enjoy the day together.

Thanks again for your time

Fished off Brown’s until noon. We had 10 tip ups out and caught fish on 8 of them. Jigging was not as successful. Unofficially ice was 5” everywhere. Didn’t measure, just an estimate using skimmer.

Someday I’ll catch a walleye through the ice there.....

Not too familiar with how Brown’s freezes, but I don’t like the looks of the far right....

Gonna be cold starting tomorrow night hope it firms up for the weekend.

I fished the northern part of the lake yesterday. We caught 4 walleye in the morning. Nothing in the afternoon. 5 inches of ice.

Lots of wet spots out there. Looks like a mine field.

The good thing is, the bad spots you can visually see now.

Colder overnight lows should firm up some of the wet spots. Here’s to hoping

No man. Park your truck off the side of fitch road and walk the short distance to the lake, unless you want a hefty bill for removing your truck from the lake.

Thanks. I don’t mind the walk at all I just know that parking gets limited on the side of Fitch.  Can people park in that little pull off area next to the main road or is that private.

Was wondering if anyone has fished out of Waterfront Park. If so, how is the parking and that hill?

Any info appreciated.

Thanks

Ice...  no machines have been out there and they also canceled the atv races off browns that’s happening in a few weeks if that tells you anything.

Drag wasnt fun.  Wet snow so sled was sticking a bit. Wasnt much snow on the lake before these past few small totals. I dont live far from lake and got 3" snow this am but good chunk has melted. So I'm sure it's a sticky drag but ice was fine in areas we fished
