From a guy who loves Crappie fishing on Saratoga Lake sure looks like you forgot your crappie checker at home, a few of those look no where near 9 inches. If they are not you should be ashamed of yourself for posting those pictures. If they are I will eat crow. I cannot believe no one else has questioned this.

Go eat crow, smallest was 9 1/4, no need to keep undersized crapps and there's plenty of guys on this forum can attest to my standards when it comes to fishing, if your looking for a pissing match I'd suggest trying somewhere else

nice batch of crappies, hard to believe that the ice is still good. I can't wait for the ice to melt and get the boat uncovered and back out on Saratoga Lake.  @)

I didn't find the crappies this morning, but caught a few of everything else.  Access from Brown's Beach is almost shot, there's a strip of open water that runs parallel to the shore all along.  I was able to pick my way across by stepping on a couple of floes, and the good news is it is very shallow so even if you would go through you wouldn't drown.

I found the fish in 7-9 FOW, in the emerging weeds.  Seems like the best holes were those that had a layer of weeds (at least on the sonar) then some open water underneath.  Most fish were tight to the bottom but I did get a couple to chase my jig above the upper weed layer.

I suspect that the water level will be raised in the next couple of days.  Last year it was right around April 1, and the rising water signaled the end due to lack of access.

Fished toga today with ice tripper. Good day on ice. Mix bag of crappies, gils and perch. 15" of ice. Top 2" white ice. Shorelines were getting soft on way out.

Not sure what invasives they are trying to keep out of Saratoga.  It already has the worst of them all.  They should make people clean the boats when they leave that lake even more than when they launch.  What lives in Saratoga Lake should stay in Saratoga Lake.

The thread was created without a date with the intentions to use it whenever. The 2017 page was not needed.

We did really good yesterday out on browns beach. It took us a little bit to find them but when we did we had consistent bites all day until about 2:00PM and then it died off. We got some nice size perch and a couple big pickerel. The deeper water had a slower bite so we moved in a little shallow and that seemed to make all the difference. I hear some guys are getting into large amounts of walleye. Here's one we got last week..

Thanks! and theirs about 5-6 inches depending on where you go some places have 4. It's safe for the most part on browns beach, some iced over springs that you have to watch for but I can't speak for the fitch rd end. Hopefully the rain doesn't do too much damage.

Went by there early this AM and saw no one out there.   Went as far up as Glen Lake via Round Lake and no one was out.   Thought it best to just go back home.   I'm sure I could have gone out alone but since I am still new to this game I thought it best not to take the chance alone.

Yes you can park at browns beach for free, but I don't have any updates on the ice I'm hoping it'll lock up nice again by Saturday with these couple of cold nights.

Yea, but next Wen and Thurs with the warm up again, don't think I'll be venturing out there just yet.

But, the south end of the lake out from browns should still be good, as long as it tightens up with this weekend of good ice making weather.  Fingers crossed.  :icefish:

the open water under the bridge,in front of the launch and all down along the front of lees park is from all 3 of the marinas running ice eaters full bore around their docks and even if it skins over the next 2 days it will only be skim ice and reopen by next weekend. I would be shocked if anyone even gets to use the state launch as an access point this year. never seen all of them running bubblers full power like that before, they effectively shut off the launch.

We got into a mess of eyes tonight, 3 were dinks like 12-14 inchers, ended up keeping 4 all around 20 inches
