Title: an old timer
Post by: BIG FOOT on Dec 07, 2014, 09:15 PM
now not too start a fight and yes I have seen most of not all
about going deep or not, but one old timer once told me that if you
want action then go shallow but if you want the big ones
then go deep how true is this for you guys?

Open water yes, ice season they can be anywhere. I believe some come shallow and some stay deep depending on what the bait fish in that particular water do.

I catch most of my wintertime pike over 40" in 10'-15' of water.
That said, during late ice these same fish will move super shallow to prepare for the spawn.
Late season you can find big fish in water that is a foot deep.
