Introduction

Hello All

I'm going to be moving to Maryland in the next few weeks so I figured I check this part of the forums out.  I am from Buffalo, so I'm used to spending a lot of time on the ice.  I was wondering how the ice seen is in Maryland.  I'm guessing the number of fish able lakes is a fair bit less than buffalo due to the weather.  So is there a few go to lakes I should be looking at?  Also and good shops?  Ill be bringing a fair bit of gear with me, but I always like to keep my offerings fresh.

What area are you moving to?  I’m also from Ny Plattsburgh area.  Western MD is best bet for ice some other areas that allow it freeze when we have normal winters. Few places near deep creek that carry ice gear. I buy everything online as nobody carries it near me.

Additionally Cunningham State Park has safe ice.... FYI THOUGH, last year was basically a bust with only Deep Creek area lakes ponds safe enough to ice fish.  I’m from MA moved here about 1 1/2 years ago and happy to at least have Deep Creek as a ice fishing lake... I’m living in Frederick area.  Also if you use live bait (minnows/shiners), be prepared to be disappointed if you live from Frederick westward.... most/all fishing tackle places no longer sells these because of the increased expenses at keeping those large tanks going... there are a few places in southern PA near Cumberland / Deep Creek area that sell them but their hours are limited.... I myself make the trek to Baltimore and buy a few dozen at a time...

Safe fishing!

FLAGS!!!
Derek
