Who introduced you to Ice Fishing? Was it Dad, Uncle Ivan, or a co-worker?  Maybe it was Mom.

Myself at about 11 or 12 years old.took an ax down to the river and chopped a hole in the ice and put on a sinker and a hook and a piece of raw meat and dropped it down through. The only trouble with it was I did`nt know the current would hold the bait up against the ice. ;D

Even though I never got in the ice with him, I always wanted to be the same kind of fisherman as my great grandfather. For him nearly every trip out to catch big fish was just a walk in the park.   8)

My old man got me started and then there was a 10year break and I got started again when I was home for leave over xmas 6 years ago.  Now the gear keeps piling up and I can't get enough of it.  Of course it's the same way with open water fishing but I just can' get enough time on the ice.  good fishin

My dad. I guess since he didn't have any sons, he was going to make sure his daughters knew how to fish and hunt and change a flat tire!  ;D
First place I remember ice fishing was in the Black Hills of SD, I was probably 12 or 13. We drilled holes through 2 ft of solid black ice with a little spoon auger!
Never had a shanty but we always scrounged for firewood and built a campfire out on the ice.
