1. Get my wife out on the ice.
2. Have motorized transportation to haul my gear, ATV or sled.
3. Ditto on the firsts for Walleye & Pike
4. Build a portable for when I take more than just me.

Save money over the summer so I can afford gas to go more often next season. It sucks when you have the time to go, want to go, have every thing you need to go.................... .....but can't justify the $60 worth of gas to get you to the closest lake with safe ice, like today :( :(
80% of Americans are unhappy with the direction our once great Country is heading. Yet 80% of Americans insist on buying blue jeans that were made in China, coffee filters that were made in Taiwan and anything else that was made anywhere but here........wonder if there might be a connection?

I've scheduled days off from work just to save gas so I could go ice fishing. It's 74 miles round trip to work for me. That's 1 1/2 trips to a lake. Two PTO days = three fishing days worth of gas for me.

So, you actually save money by not going to work! I like your logic!!  ;D

My goals for next season are a flasher for myself, an Ice Gator for my husband, and an ATV to haul it all around with. (May need to win a lottery)  ;)

Careful what you wish for! She may turn out like me. My husband took me ice fishing on our second date. This year I talked him into buying TWO new shanties and you can see my list for next year!  :roflmao:

Start a flasher and portable shanty fund.* HOLDS OUT EMPTY COFFEE CAN *  ;D

I fish alone more often times than not.The shanty to atleast keep me out of the wind, weather are hardly ever right.Once I have that than I can lose the trappers basket I've lugging around for over the past 10 yrs.Learn new water and hopefully meet up with more ice shanty members.

And possibly get a new job to allow more free time to get out there  ::) ;D

As far a resolutions..... for this coming season or ones in the future...
Just a tip for those who plan to take their wives/"significant others" & kids out. Make sure to remember that it's "their" trip & don't plan to do much fishing yourself, but "teaching" instead. You'll love it!!!
:D

Be sure to make the first time out, the "Best" memory for trying out icefishing, regardless if anyone "ices"  fish or not.  It's the "getting out there" that makes it fun. :D

If ya plant a "seed" the right way.... It'll grow & blossom into something that they'll love & you will also. Knowing what you did to help. :D

And, as far as "fuel" goes... Most of us will have to "adapt & overcome" that obstacle. Maybe , making some new friends to get out & icefish together would be a great idea. Split the fuel, & the bait, & maybe a few "favorite beverages" & have a great time...
:D

I hope you all fare well in this coming year. regardless of what happens...
:D
   - My Best Hunting & Fishing partner..... 21,Jan.98 - 8,May.07......RIP... We'll be together again....

Good Luck!! &  "Watch Your Bobber!"
