what time of night?

 Hey guys im going burbot fishing this weekend at night and was just wondering what everyone finds is the best time of night to fish. Right before dark then on or wait awhile and head out later quite a while after dark? I fish them in the day time before but havnt been out at night yet. Thanks

I like to go out just before dark, it's nice to have some light while you are setting up and I find that the first flags start to pop just as the sun dips down below the trees.

From my personal experience the best bite is from dusk (5:30 pm here) till about 9 pm...slows down big time after that.

I agree between 9pm and midnight is best.  But best to have holes pre dug, lights off, and quiet.  Every eelpout I caught last weekend was between 9-11pm only pesky rough fish (walleye) before 9pm.

really it all depends on the body of water, location, time of year, etc.  Find the sweet time for your spot and keep hitting it at that time of night.  You'll continue to do good as long as the burbot are moving through

Best time I've found is from 7 pm til 10pm . Last week we fished that  time for 4 days got  between 25 to 30  . The average  was 28 inches, but did get 2 30 inchers  and 32 incher

  I say the best time from my experiences is it starts a round 5:00 or 6:00 P.M. Then you go on from there and you will have a Cusk fest!!

how deep were you fishing?  i know that durring the day, they tend to go deep (60+ fow) and usually are inactive when they are down there

All this talk about cutting a day short by only going out in the evening?
I'd say you should be out there 6am the fish until 6am the next day, a full 24hours of fishing. Who cares what time they bite the best, you can't catch them if your lines not in the water.
