I have been seeing the PS 22 panoptix rigs for sale @ 450-500 used. One went for 400 but lasted about 2 minutes on the site. After using the PS 22 for two years now. That is the way to go for the budget minded ice anglers.
Sure the live scope would be nice but I actually prefer the older style. What the older style lacks in detail it makes up for in size of object displayed. My 71 year old vision has a lot to say about this. Got to compare head to head with a livescope rig.This past season and was not tempted in the least to upgrade.
Anyway the PS-22 being able to do both down and forward views is awesome. I use the forward view to find them and the down view to fish with. More than one angler can use the same finder for visual fishing. Valuable asset for fishing team that has only one finder.
