Was thinking the same thing. Would love a little panfish competition. Never fished lake Fenton. What species is there to target?

You can register at the moose the day of between 6 and 7:45. following that will be a rules meeting. fishing starts at 8 ends at 5 with activities at 5:30 at moose lodge. HOWEVER.... there is a new DNR officer in the area that wants a permit to be pulled for a tournament. same guy is aldo trying to shutdown lobdell lake chili cook off.
as for the ice... i went out on mon and had 8 - 10" . now there is open water on NE end and jyst SW of the moose lodge which will pose a problem getting to the moose from the ice.
100 yrds from open water had a good 8". today in same spot had 7.5".
will be checking ice on thurs and fri and reporting it to Dave at the moose. fisherman may be able to access moose lodge launch if we stay on the east shorline. if we have to cut across lake from the west a good spot would be just north of Case island. definetly do not try and fish north end pass the moose and sailing club..
will update this post when i get more info.
fingers crossed - Joe

Was it still good at the launch? Unexpected night off tonight, want to go tomorrow, just don't want to drive for an hour to turn around and come home

I did not go to the launch. I was just wondering if there are other places to get on the lake. I want to go on Friday evening but don't want to walk a mile to the spots I want to fish on the lake.

Unfortunately only the 1 public launch and the Moose lodge. I'm guessing for tournament they will let you on there. Unless you are member of sail club I don't now of any other places to get on.

Not sure about the ice, don't make it over there much anymore.  but there are most definitely more places to access that lake besides the Moose and boat launch.  Just have to drive around and look.  Be safe boys.

you can get on cranes cove by parking down the road on lahring rd and walking back to cranes cove and enter the  lake just to the south of the big fence...that is the hot spot so far this year anyways...you will have to walk about 1/4 of a mile on lahring to get back to the lake so pack lite.. ;D

Ice on Fenton this morning was a bit weak at shorelines, 5" just offshore and 4" 100 yrds from open water on north end. Did not check the launch area. I popped 20 holes in the vented of lake area. Shantys still up on cranes cove,   As far as that being a hot spot...eh...????

I was out on cranes cove last Saturday because of the snowmobile drags and motorcycle races by the launch,(nothing like snowmobiles going by you at 120 mph..hmm and speed sigh says 45 mph on lake)anyway ::) so i got out on cranes cove..caught 13 nice gills and 3 spec's . there were people in and near the shanty's fishing..and one guy wayyyyy out...I saw everyone catching something.. maybe i miss spoke about the *HOT* spot but it was way better there , than by the launch, even without the snowmobiles and bikes.. ;D ;D ;D

Nah, theres spots at both the south and north end, and a couple on the east side of the lake if you know where to look.

Drove all the way around the lake yesterday.  The boat launch has lots of good areas, and they were even further east then normal.  The south end has a couple of shantys as well.  Torrey road had a half of a dozen people as well.  Its a great spot, but county took parking away a few years ago on the side of the road.  Best bet is to park over at the elementary and walk down.  North end was open water.  Snowing right now here in Fenton pretty good.
