Can’t be more than a half inch tho, right? Maybe it will build this next week.

I went to Kelso today and yes there is a lot of ice there, at least 6'' of clear and 4 or 5 of ice that is white on top. I didn't catch anything but I had never fished there before and couldn't see where anyone else had put holes in the ice as there was about 4 inches of fresh snow on the ice.

It seems winter has arrived, the next week or so is looking promising for some solid ice. I had put away all my ice gear and started rigging my rods up for open water, got the kayak ready... mistake lol. Anyone got any ice plans this weekend? Where at?

I'm going to give it until next weekend I think. I'm on-call this weekend anyway and, like you, have already put my ice gear away.

It’s on our list for next season for sure.

I’ll be interested in any reports people may have on Round lake leading up to this weekend. I think we will break the equipment back out and try there as long as the ice is good. Thanks!

Have you ever fished Kelso? I tried it on Friday but couldn't see where any holes punched in the ice so was fishing blind. Ice was very good though no problem walking clear across the lake.

We nearly tried kelso once, but the road in was pretty bad because it had just dumped. Might try again though.

The best spot for trout is  60-100yards from the dock  or across the lake from the docks as for perch im not sure i don't eat the trout dont trust the meat on them

I have a buddy who smokes a bunch of trout out of there. They seem to like them. I would be more interested in where to find perch tho. Trout are usually caught on accident, we don’t target them. :-)

Raynebidziil22,
Do you think there’s a chance Fernan gets enough ice to Fish safely by the end of the week? It’s 11 degrees right now in Spokane Valley and it’s usually colder over your way. I’ve never ice fished fernan, but we had fun a couple weekends ago fishing it open water.

I live 20 miles north of spirit lake, I will check it out later this week. This morning at my house I had -11.

Hugeinchina if you look at the cold snap we had last year this one is similar. Looking at ice depth chart there should be ice being made!

Some good temp vs. ice formation info at:  http://lakeice.squarespace.com/ice-growth/  But, make sure to read the "fine print" cautions.
This site also has lots of useful info about every aspect of ice activities and safety (e.g. claws and life jackets would have saved at least half of those who fell through).  I'll probably check Avondale tomorrow after another single-digit night.

Avondale is another place we may try this coming weekend if the ice is good. The fishing a couple of months ago was not great there, but it's pretty close for us and still a better overall fishing experience than, say, Eloika.

Just stopped at Avondale, about 8-10" ice. Seen 3 people out fishing, I didn't fish myself just walked out and talked with the other anglers.
