Thanks Carguy. The catfish are bullheads and there are a lot of them got probably 20 to 30 last weekend on Cave and Medicine.

Sticksandstring- You can fish Mirror by going down to Boy Scout camp and walking down to the lake. They are pretty good about letting you walk through.

Welcome to Iceshanty Brad.

Maybe your type of reporting will catch on.       ;)2

Thanks Idahogator!  I hope so too.  I don't mind sharing my knowledge.  When it comes to huntin' though, I may be a bit more tight-lipped.

Any body know were i can a youngster out with some fast action for perch?

Go to bottle bay, fish the around the docks at the resort, can't keep them off your jig. Most are small but for the kiddos it will be fun.

Fished Fernan in the AM had a decent day.  24 Nice perch in the 9-10" range. Ice still good, but 1-2" of slop on top and a bit of wind all day.

Very true, and Bottle Bay did cap and was fished a bit. We had wind from the north and a bit of rain that made the ice gray/milky with what appeared to be 4" of water in spots/pools, some 10' across. Being the first to cap was good. Then "they" dropped the lake level, so from the shore line the ice sloped toward the center of the bay.  It became the type that looks good to me, I'll follow you, ice.  I go have another look in the coming week and get  a few ice depths/thicknesses.

I went out with a friend on granite today and ice was great.  Snow on it and no slush.  Oh ya ice is 12 plus inches.  Fishing was slow but it was  nice and didn't rain.  I would go tomorrow but I have to work.

There's one on Winchester on Jan 25th.

Although I agree, we should organize one on the Twins or Fernan.

9" of ice on Moses by I90 bridge, fished for 45 minutes before sunset, one 12" perch then had to leave, fish were interested but hard to get the bite, had to work for em.

Jim.. How did you do on Granite? Me and a buddy went out on Cocolalla and in 2 hours we caught 1-14in trout & 5 perch. The ice was 6 in thick but the ice looked iffy out toward the middle  of the lake. We did not venture out that way as we were not overly eager to go for possibly a swim.

Mike,  I got one trout and one crappie.  I missed a few too.  Like I said ice is 12 plus inches.  I drilled 15 holes and it was a work out.

Well hit Thompson today rain was not the issue let me tell you. Got there about 8 and left about 12. Ice was still good when we left about 6 inches. Going to try it again tomarrow with some newbies. Thinking rocky point. We did manage 2 pike and 4 perch. Probably could have had more pike but tip ups kept blowing out of holes.

Fished Chatcolet today wing was bad for a couple hours but not as bad as yesterday. Ice was still good but getting big open holes where old hole had been drilled. Got a bunch of perch. One small pike. And very wet when the rain started. At least the wind dyed way down when it started raining.

thanks for info.  I don't know where I want to go tomorrow.   Thinking heading to mirror.  try to find a lake that doesn't have a ton water on top or good high points.

Potholes, WA (Lin Coulee):
6" of bad ice, sagging when stepped on, will be gone in a couple of days. I do not advise going there unless they get another cold snap soon. Which stinks cause the fishing is hot.

18 perch over 9", 5 over 10", 18.5" rainbow, landed 5 small walleyes under 12" hooked into 2 really big ones that cut me off at the jig (2 lb test  :'( )

Moses Lake, WA (I-90 bridge):
9" of clear ice.

12" perch on Jan 10th, no bites on the 13th.

Hey fowl. Is there a contact you have for ice conditions on Moses lake? I am going on a road trip somewhere this weekend.

upriver, I sent you a PM.

Winchester lake: 1/13/2014
7" of ice, 2-3" of garbage ice on top really pourous and soft but strong ice underneath, temp looks good up at higher elevations ice should stay for awhile.

Trout fishing is still good I landed 5 all 10 to 14" all released, saw two guys with limits of smaller planters on the ice, dead sticking worms in front of the state park dock (in front of bathrooms on south shore).

Panfishing is bad, crappie moved in after dark only convinced one to bite tried everything on the others, nothing worked.
