Roy Lake in NESD probably 68 or 69 years ago. :o
[/quote) My first several years of ice fishing were in South Dakota as well but in the central and western part of the state. We used to drive our trucks 20 miles or more on the ice on Lake Oahe to get to some of our favorite walleye spots. Sometimes the ice was so thick that you would finish the hole on your knees hoping that you hit water before your power auger ran out of auger. What a riot
Fishermen are born honest, but they get over it...

Star Lake, NY in the 1960's.  We kids would use a hand line with a hook and dead minnow if we could find some left by the older fishermen. We would lay on the ice, looking down the hole to see if we could get a trout to bite.  60 years later and I have my own minnows now.

First experience was walking out  Honeoye early 80's and checking out the perch being caught after a day of skiing with my dad.  That set the tune for my first time on the ice actually fishing which was Sodus Bay.
"3/4 of the Earth's surface is water, and 1/4 is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn."

Been lurking a few seasons now, first time post.

Braddock Bay way back in the early 90's. Set a couple tip ups with a friend in the marina.  Think we caught a pike, but darned if I can remember.

First place i ever ice fished was a small pond that was unpressured and dynamite. Old landowners let us access it but it was sold to a developer unfortunately. Next would be Saratoga Lake

Conesus Lake by Long Point mid 70's. We would target pike with tip ups but jig for perch to pass the time.
