Title: Fishing both sides of mississippi
Post by: mkeller on Jan 08, 2023, 11:48 AM: Have been looking at ice fishing the backwaters and staying in dubuque. Would want to fish io2a and Wisconsin side, would I need a fishing license for both states? Also anyone recommend a guide to get me started? Just had a eye surgery to repair a detached retina this week so would be looking at February most likely.

Post by: matzilla on Jan 09, 2023, 08:09 AM: You'll be fine - so long as you are on the river, between the tracks, etc you can fish the "wisconsin" backwaters with an Iowa license. Once you go above the iowa state line on the wisconsin side you obviously need a wisconsin or mn license

no it doesn't. you can enter the ice from either side. just like you could with a boat.
